<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember when there was no excuse for drunkenness. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember when there was no excuse for morbid obesity.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember when there was no excuse for infidelity.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Now, alcoholism is a disease.
Overeating is a disease. And
sexual addiction has been known to disrupt a person’s normal way of life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m no psychologist, so I’m not here to disprove that one not
being able to control one’s excessive use of alcohol, food or sex might not be
linked to some kind of psychological disorder.
But on the other hand, and let’s face it, the sheer enjoyment of
alcohol, food and sex can simply lead us to never getting enough. Which comes first? The chicken or the egg. I don’t know.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">What I do know is that if one is prone to excessive behavior, one
must find help before, and not after the lack of control sets in. For instance, if every time I go on my
computer to work, and I end up playing Candy Crush for hours, hours that could
be used to clean and cook, chores that I don’t look forward to, then it behooves
me to not touch that Candy Crush button if I don’t have the time to spare.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The only time no one excuses a drunkard for his actions is if he kills
someone in his drunken state. People will
say, “He got drunk and then knowingly got behind the wheel of a car.” As someone who has never been drunk, I don’t know
what it feels like; but if I were to imagine, I’d say that if someone was that
drunk and drove, then he possibly could not have been in his right frame of
mind to decipher if he was capable to drive in the first place. I mean, doesn’t drunkenness distort our
rationality?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So much sympathy is now given to the morbidly obese, that people who
are proud of their fit bodies are accused of fat-shaming others, if they happen
to share photos of themselves.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m not sure why only the rich and famous get away with having a
sexual addiction, while the average Joe is just a womanizer. But moving right along.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So now that people are able to drink as much alcohol as they want,
eat as much food as they want, have as much sex as they want, and those are
deemed as medical conditions, the next step seems to be for them to senselessly
kill others and are declared as being mentally unstable.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Nowadays, when someone commits the most heinous of acts, no one
wants to label him as evil – instead, he has mental health issues. I am aware that there are various levels on
the mental health spectrum; however, if someone sits down and plans an act of
violence so terrible, it’s only fair that he gets booted out of the mental
health circle and gets dumped into the EVIL brigade.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Vester Lee Flanagan, aka Bryce Williams, on live TV killed
two of his former coworkers, a reporter and a cameraman. As he sprayed bullets, he accidentally shot
the innocent bystander who was being interviewed by the reporter. As he fled police, he eventually turned the
gun on himself and later died.
Apparently he had a manifesto which I guess spoke to the discrimination that
he endured on the job from his victims.
I did not read nor will I read said manifesto. And by the way, writing a lengthy suicide
note doesn’t constitute a manifesto or get you into the mental health circle –
YOU ARE STILL EVIL!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">From what I picked up, Vester/Bryce did not have a good experience
on the job and was fired two years ago, and not on good terms either. Let’s just say he was discriminated against
based on his race and/or sexual preference, is it still okay to hold a grudge
for two years against at least two people and let it fester so much that his
only alternative was to end their lives in such a violent and public way?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Every time people cannot explain why a monstrous act was
committed, they chalk it up to mental health issues. They are just giving people with genuine
mental health problems a bad name. And
because he cried bigotry, doesn’t get him any sympathy from me. Then I hear people saying that we don’t know
the full story, that there’s more to it.
Look, I’ve been prejudiced against because of my race and ethnicity, and
after I was no longer at that job, any revenge I had for anyone did not last for
more than a week or two </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">.
But in my defense, it wasn’t anything as wicked as killing anyone. Well, not so blatant that it doesn’t look
like an accident. </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When police officer, Darren Wilson shot and killed 18 year old
Michael Brown, he had numerous supporters.
Sympathizers raised money for his legal defense and presumably for his livelihood,
since he no longer had a job. It
bothered me because at the end of the day, he senselessly took someone else’s
life. I don’t care what Alison Parker
and Adam Ward did to Vester. I don’t
care what he thinks they did to him. I
don’t care how hurt he felt. Nothing
they did or could have ever done deserved being executed while innocently doing
their jobs. Therefore, I cannot in good conscience
give this murderer a pass just because we have similar pigmentation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Several weeks ago, a Boston police chief reported his own son, who
was found with an arsenal and the desire to kill for ISIS. I waited for it, and I was eventually
rewarded with news that he had a history of mental illness. Did he?
I don’t know. But how else can
that chief or the rest of the country explain how this white, privileged young
man is now a jihadist?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The mental health crisis that this nation faces is extremely
serious. There are college kids committing
suicide at a vast rate. There are heads
of households killing their entire families and then themselves. These are trying times, but perspectively
speaking, not because people with a ‘normal’ state of mind cannot comprehend the
evil mind, doesn’t make every murderer crazy.</span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">This is old news, but I started this post almost two months ago
and am only now completing it. Before
you get on my case, just remember that sometimes hairdressers have the most
jacked up hair, plumbers have the worst plumbing, mechanics drive jalopies, and
carpenters live in shacks. I work for
myself, so sometimes I get complacent. I
still have household chores, kids to deal with and honestly, sometimes I just
want to lie on the couch and watch TV.
If you don’t like it, feel free to get me a writing gig. </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m not a big fan of Ariana Grande, but dammit I’ll fight for
her. She sings like Mariah Carey. You know the way; refusing to open their
mouths, and someone like me who already has enough trouble trying to figure out
songs’ lyrics, just can’t deal with someone who is eating her words. Give me Whitney Houston. Actually, don’t anymore; but that girl would
open her mouth and sing. Okay, I’ll take
Bruno Mars. Boyfriend will enunciate
those words for folks like me. And by
the way, Miss Jackson, you need to open your mouth too.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But you’re gonna tell me that Ariana Grande, a 22 year old former
Disney teeny bopper who said something that was on her mind in a country as
free as the United States of America has to apologize, while elected members of
Congress plotted to sabotage the US economy because Obama was elected, yet were
never charged for treason. Police actually
stopped killing innocent people to investigate Ariana’s comments about hating
Americans and America. She was referring
to the fact that she bought a donut, and it was so huge that it disgusted her
and caused her to think about the obesity problem in this country. Is she lying?
Okay, licking those donuts because they were unhealthy was nasty AND
childish, but she’s a child, maturity-wise.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Of course she regrets saying it that way. Well, rather, she regrets being
overheard. But, who has never said anything
out loud that they ended up regretting, because they’ve hurt another human being
or because they ended up looking ridiculous?
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">First of all, hate is a strong word for people of a certain age,
but for those young‘uns, hate is just an everyday word in their vernacular. Your best friend just roasted you, what do
you say? I hate you. Your teacher ‘gave’ you a D that you actually
earned, what do you tell our buddies. I
hate her. So let’s just skip the BS, and
keep it real about what Ariana means. She
doesn’t like the fact that she is living in a country where people just nonchalantly
go into an eatery and devour donuts and/or any food filled with content unfit
for their bodies. What she means is that
she is not proud of the fact that there are so many obese people in her beloved
country who refuse to do anything except to see how quickly they can elevate
from obese to morbidly obese. And at 50 pounds
soaking wet, Ariana is anything but a threat to national security.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So the profanity bothers you too?
Oh dear, profanity bothers you, yet you defend Donald Trump when he says
such sick things about Mexicans. Your
theory that he is just “protecting our borders” doesn’t hold water. Instead of bringing Donald Trump to task with
his blatant xenophobia, you straight-faced say crap like “he didn’t say all
immigrants, he said illegal immigrants”.
As if your grandparents or Donald’s current and former wives came here
with their green cards in their pockets.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People are quite fine with “celebrities” coming here and living
here without their ‘papers’ but not the average Mexican. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Take Sofia Vergara. She
left Colombia for Miami when her older brother was murdered during a botched kidnap. I don’t know, but it sounds like she was
living in the States without proper documentation for a while.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When Steven Spielberg noticed Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Titanic
miniseries, he recommended her to the director of <i>The Mask of Zorro</i> where she starred alongside Anthony Hopkins and
Antonio Banderas, all immigrants. Hey,
maybe they came here to work and when their working visas expired, they returned
to Wales and Spain.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m pretty sure in the early 1930’s when Albert Einstein visited
the US, he had every intention of returning to a tumultuous Germany. I mean, it’s not like Hitler was having a
problem with outspoken Jews or anything like that.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Do you know what else irritates me about people trying to be so
politically correct? When they try to
fix something now that they were quite fine with so many years ago. TV Land cancelled <i>The Dukes of Hazzard</i> reruns in 2015, a show that ended in 1985 because
of the recent dust up regarding the Confederate flag. There is a car in the show with the flag on
the roof that NEVER bothered anyone for over 30 years; now it’s not politically
correct. Look, history is history. If there were to be a 2015 show with that
flag brazenly pronounced, that would be a problem, but at this point, it is
what it is. Maybe they just don’t want
us to remember the times when they were being politically incorrect when they
already knew better.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Recently, some members of Congress wanted to strip Bill Cosby of
his 2002 Presidential Medal of Freedom that W. bestowed upon him. If they are going to take that from Bill
because they now realize that he’s an <s>alleged</s> rapist, then they’ll have
to take away W.’s presidency because they now realize that he is a complete nincompoop.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Do we always use the right words at the right time? Hell no!
I know Ariana wishes that she could take back what she did and said, but
maybe in that moment she felt like her back was against the wall. Nah, she’s a kid; she felt like it was a good
idea at the time. But for Pete’s sake, she’s
a 22 year old pop princess. How much
maturity do we really expect from her?
Plus, our very mature First Lady of the United States has a campaign
focusing on moving, getting fit and eating right, yet she’s not being taken
seriously by many folks either. After Pennsylvania
schools’ attempt to get kids to eat healthier, Sarah Palin brought cookies to
them since she thought Pennsylvania was a nanny state. I’m assuming she actually came to Pennsylvania
to stir up trouble, but for all I know, she just saw Pennsylvania from her
house and threw them over her fence.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But perspectively speaking, if Michele Obama’s technique is
spurned, what’s wrong with giving Ariana’s a fair shot.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I recently returned from a three week vacation from the land of my
birth. It was definitely one of the
funnest vacations ever. [I know it’s not
a real word, but I first heard it from the kids, and honestly, it comes in
handy when something is <b><i>beyond</i></b> fun.] Most of it was because I was there for a
family reunion, and of all the things I love the most, FAMILY is way up
there. Then I got to spend time with
former classmates and other girlfriends.
The great thing about having attended an all-girls school is that when
we get together, we can let our guards down without any recourse. Well, nothing much usually stops me from
holding back; but being in the company of all women just makes crude jokes even
funnier. I’m just saying.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">However, I had to endure questions like these throughout my visit:<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Do you miss Antigua?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Do you like where you live?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Would you ever return for good?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The easy or politically correct answers are YES, SURE, YEAH; but
it’s me, so the truth is, it’s not that simple.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I miss the beach a lot since I’m a total beach bum; but if I were
actually living in Antigua, unless I were a millionaire, there is no way I
could afford to be at the beach all day, every day. I miss Brownie’s bun and cheese, but after
three weeks and five pounds, (which are taking twice as long to get rid of) again,
there is no way I’d be able to sustain that kind of diet. It was a blast catching up with family and friends,
but alas, were I living in Antigua, it just would not be feasible to hang out
with them that often, with kids’ schedules, neglected husbands and just the daily
grind. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then there are the things that I do NOT miss about Antigua: the terrible roads, the crazy drivers (yup,
we almost got run off the road thrice, twice by the police), and the lack of
reliable infrastructure. No offense my
fellow Antiguans, but when I turn my computer on and click on the Internet, I really
expect to be connected the same day!
Hyperbole at its worst is just going to make me enemies, but seriously, I’ve
never seen Internet soooooo slooooowwwww.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I also do not miss the monolithic points of views, and it doesn’t
mean that I’m indoctrinated because I have been living in North America. It just means that I see things from a
different perspective. Okay fine, you
are still in the dark ages, and I’m not; but I still love you! </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> And naturally, I’m not talking about everyone
that I spoke to, but the homophobia that still exists in Antigua, and the
Caribbean at large, is beginning to appear violent adjacent.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Do I like where I live? I
LOVE where I live, and I’m so grateful that I do. But I’m pretty easy to please, so I’ve always
loved my home. For the first 20 years of
my life, I lived in Antigua, and I totally enjoyed it. For the<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span></span>next
15, I lived in various parts of New York, and trust me, the South Bronx is not
as scary as it is depicted in the media.
For the past 10 years, living in the Poconos is like living in Antigua
back in the ‘70s, in terms of the scenery and at the same time living in a
progressive city, in terms of the conveniences….what’s not to love?<o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But telling an Antiguan that you enjoy living abroad is a set up
for an Antiguan cuss out. “So, what you
saying is that you prefer America than where you were born?” No, I’m just saying that I’ve made a life
there now, and it’s comfortable, so I’m just taking life one day at a
time. “So, you’re too good for Antigua
now?” No, not at all. “So you never thought about returning?” Well, it’s not like we can just give up a job
and a place to stay and come home on a <s>prayer</s> hope.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So you can imagine how much tact has to be sought with my
responses. In my mind I’m thinking, I’ll
return to or retire in Antigua when I’m guaranteed that motorists respect each
other, when clear lines are drawn on the roads so that motorists know for sure
where their lane ends and mine starts, when motorist just don’t park and exit
their cars at the most convenient spot for them, which in turn ends up being almost
impossible for me to squeeze through; when motorists see that they are the ones
with the obstruction and still don’t speed to pass before me as if I’m not the
one with the clear lane; when motorists realize that even though I’m not the one
with the right of way, if they all keep going, eventually, no one will be able
to move. And that’s just driving. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Yeah, I’ll return when I have used the bathroom, put soap on my
hands, turn the faucet on, and water actually comes out. (Yes, I know that Antigua has a really,
really bad drought problem; but how long will that excuse last?) Or when I am getting ready to go out, and I am
midway in ironing my outfit, the power comes off. (Yes, I know that Antigua is a developing
country, and these things take time; but how long will that excuse last?)<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">With 365 beaches, with Antigua being the most progressive Leeward
Island, and one of the most in the Caribbean overall, all I’m saying is that we
cannot keep complaining about the same problems year after year, decade after
decade. Something has got to be done! Tourism is our main industry; and the
competitive field is </span><span style="font-family: 'Wide Latin', serif; font-size: 13.5pt;">WIDE</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But as I look at my fellow Antiguans who have remained and with
whom I’d be on par with, I don’t see people who are living in a country with a
plethora of inconveniences. I see people
who are on average happy with their lives.
I see people who are succeeding in their fields. I see people who are living very well. Just like how we've adjusted to a country
where at any given moment, an unarmed <s>Black</s> <s>man</s> <s>child</s> <s>woman</s>
civilian can be shot numerous times by a police officer who will later be
cleared of any wrongdoing, just like how we’ve adjusted to a country where a
corn silk haired billionaire who is as dumb as a rock is leading the polls in
the Republican party for president of the most powerful country in the world, I
know that were I still living in Antigua, there’d be no place that I’d rather
be.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But what I missed most was my bed.
And it wasn’t because I didn’t sleep well. I slept very well – just not for long. I was comfortable, and I was relaxed, but after
a while, I just missed my crib, you know.
I missed home! And home is where
I get my mail, not where my navel string was buried. Because at the end of the day, it doesn’t
matter where you make your home, perspectively speaking, it is the only place
where your heart is.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">In light of everything that’s happening in the world today, I’d be
remiss if I didn’t have a perspective to share.
Most people already know my take on religion, sexuality, politics and
equality for all of mankind, so I won’t bore you. I’ll just say this: We are complex human beings. We have different perspectives on a plethora
of beliefs. There could be four close
friends sitting together, and when they hear the news that the Supreme Court
had upheld the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare for the SECOND time, they are
all ecstatic. After all, with over 16.5
million people enrolled, reverting to having no insurance at all would not have
been a viable option for them.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When Hillary Clinton was the only Democrat who threw her hat in
the ring, many people were looking forward to having the first female president of the
United States. Next thing, Senator
Bernie Sanders (I), from Vermont joined her along with </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">Lincoln Chafee and Martin
O'Malley. Chafee is a bit on the queer
side; O’Malley is a bit on the plain side.
They’ll drop out soon. But Bernie
is the ultimate underdog. An independent
socialist who actually believes in </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">free college <b><i>and</i></b> is opposed to wars in general,
did a sneak attack on the former Secretary of State. Three of the friends can relate to Bernie’s ideologies,
but there is one who is just intent on us having our first female
president. Next thing you know, everyone
else is looking at her with the side eye.
How could she back any Clinton, with how much baggage they travel with?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">After agreeing to disagree, the topic of a certain bigot running
for the Republican Party surfaced. I’m
sure everyone can agree that no one in their right mind will take Donald Trump
seriously. Not so fast! There is always one person who can see that
although the Donald is an idiot, they like the fact that he speaks his mind;
that he touches on issues that concern most people; and that he is a shrewd
businessman who can turn this economy around.
Unfortunately, there is always someone who will be blind to someone’s
true nature. I won’t go into details
about the fact that it’s easy for him to speak his mind because there isn’t
much there, or that most of his concerns are based on prejudice and
bigotry, or that he is not that great of a businessman having filed for
bankruptcy so many times, or that Obama has already made great strides in
turning around the broken economy left by Baby Bush. To each his own.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">As if enough crap is not happening, racists are burning down Black
churches and killing Black people praying in Black churches as if it’s
1799. I’m sure all four can agree that there
is a miscarriage of justice occurring when the media claim that some of these
fires are accidental or that there is not enough evidence to prove arson or that anyone has yet to be charged.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Well, burning churches will not be tolerated by anyone, but when the
Supreme Court decided 5-4 that same-sex couples had the right to marry
nationally, all hell broke loose.
Suddenly, your best friend who sided with you that Donald Trump is the <b>BIGGEST ASS</b> alive could not find it in
her heart to agree that Adam and Steve should be granted the same rights as
a man and a woman. The same people who
condone adultery in their <b><i>own </i></b>marriage, just could not find it in their hearts
to condone <b><i>someone else’s</i></b> same-sex marriage. The same people who had no problems violating
some of the Ten Commandments started pointing out the sinfulness of gay sex,
even though it is not even in the top ten, where commandments are concerned. And now close friends are beginning to wonder
how they could have been so blind. They
cannot comprehend that someone could lack such morals. They cannot believe that their best friend is
willing to fight for the right for men (because people don’t fret too much
about lesbian sex) to lie together. Are
they not aware that it’s in the Bible?
And it doesn’t matter that they are going to use scriptures from said
Bible to prove that the Bible is true – it’s in there,
and that is all you need to know. They are
not concerned that Abraham was married to his half-sister who gave him her maid
to bear a child because she was barren, and after she was “blessed” with a
child of her own, drove the maid and Abraham’s first born out of the household. Come to think of it, no one ever remembers Ishmael;
it’s all about Isaac, who is technically the second child; but that is neither
here nor there. They are not concerned
that Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
That is not important. What’s
important is that same-sex marriage defies “traditional marriage”.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I could argue my opinions, but I’ve decided that it’s not worth it
and not because I don’t want to be that snarky friend who years from now gives
someone the ‘I told you so’ look. I’m certainly
not too modest for that. I’m not going
to respond with ‘let’s agree to disagree’ because quite frankly, it’s okay to
disagree and to disagree with passion.
We are complex individuals, and it’s okay to possess varying ideologies;
but perspectively speaking, the only reason why I’m keeping my opinions to
myself (smile if you see the irony) is because with everything that’s going on
in the world today, only one thing can help us all – <b>LOVE</b>!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Many of you know how I feel about certain “holidays”, specifically
Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day.
I have some issues with Christmas and Thanksgiving too, but honestly,
any excuse to eat a lot of food is enough for me to set aside my
principles. Plus, those are the two main
days that I get to spend time with members of my extended family.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I don’t really remember ever celebrating or even acknowledging Mother’s
Day before that fateful one when my mother was laid to rest. I assume we must have had Mother’s Day
celebrations prior to that. Maybe, maybe
not. That could explain why she was buried on Mother’s Day, and no one
noticed. Or maybe I just don’t recall.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m also not sure if I don’t celebrate those “holidays” because I’m
an orphan. And I’m aware that I had a tumultuous
relationship with my father during my formative years, but as an adult, he sure
was one cool dude. But it can’t be
anything to do with the relationship with my father because my husband is an
excellent father, was raised by a wonderful father, and we still don’t
celebrate Father’s Day. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I just feel like every day is Father’s Day; every day is Mother’s
Day; and every day is Valentine’s Day.
After all, we are parents every day, and we love each other every
day. But that’s just my perspective,
hence the name of the blog.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But for those people who celebrate Father’s Day, for those people
who acknowledge Father’s Day, for those <b>FATHERS</b>
who feel special on that day, the least the rest of us can do is to give them
that respect.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">On Father’s Day, Facebook was bombarded with memes and posts about
Happy Father’s Day to the <b><i>mothers</i></b> who are fathers and
mothers. Because they decide to share
everything about themselves, the only person that I know who is a father <i>and</i> a mother is <s>Bruce</s> Caitlyn Jenner. Too politically incorrect? Then what else would you call someone who is
woman above and man below? But this is
so not about <s>Bruce</s> Caitlyn. Then
there were narratives about deadbeat dads, about sperm donors, about the fact
that anyone can be a father but not everyone can be a dad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I know a whole lot of fathers - in my inner circle, friends,
acquaintances, and out of all of them, I’d say 95% are good fathers. Of all the fathers that I know, only a
handful need to step up their game; the majority of them are on point. They are loving. They are supportive – financially and
otherwise. They are mentors. They are hands-on.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m not a father. I don’t
celebrate Father’s Day. However, I was
really ticked off this past Sunday from the utmost disrespect that many fathers
had to endure about the negativity that many people feel about a few
fathers. For the fathers that I personally
know who could work on their game, it’s mainly extenuating circumstances that
cause them not to do better. That’s not
to say that I’m making excuses, but at least it’s not like they just sit down
and say, “Today, and for the rest of my life, I’m going to be the <b><i>worst</i></b>
father that I can be.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Another irritating point is that these fathers just recently had
to go through their Facebook and see people bragging about their four year old Pre-K
graduation, who is blessed to be leaving Pre-K at four. They had to see the long essays about how
proud people are of their five year old graduates who successfully got promoted
to the First Grade. They had to endure
how happy folks are about their 12 year olds who are going to Middle School
next year. They had to see pictures of 15
year olds from their Junior High School proms.
Did these fathers bitch about the fact that these kids were at the age
to reach these milestones? No! They shared your joy. Yet, you are the first to combat with that’s
what they are supposed to do if anyone says that some fathers go above and
beyond the call of duty.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Many mothers out there make mistakes on a daily basis, yet every
Mother’s Day, there are more ‘queens’ than at a royal convention. Mother’s Day already gets a big hoopla
compared to Father’s Day, so perspectively speaking, what does it take away from
single mothers for fathers to be celebrated on Father’s Day?<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I cannot believe that this is the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth,
and it is also the </span><b style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><i>first</i></b><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> that I’m knowing what it is. I started seeing Juneteenth a few days ago,
but silly me, I thought it was some kind of hip hop music festival due to the
arena in which it was mentioned, and due to its silly name. But I noticed that it kept coming up in light
of certain situations that were occurring in this here US of A. You know, like police beating up kids at
pools, non-White people pretending to be Black, and now the massacre at a
historic Charleston, SC church. Now I
usually like to be in the know, so because there wasn’t much narrative about
this Juneteenth, I kept ignoring it.
Eventually, I realized that it was becoming way too popular for me to
avoid, so I researched it.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Not only is Juneteenth 150 years old, like I just mentioned, but
it was on June 19, 1865 that Major Gen. Gordon Granger led Union soldiers to
Galveston, TX carrying news that the war had ended and that all slaves were
free. Armed forces had to literally
bring the news in person because Texas refused to follow President Lincoln’s Emancipation
Proclamation from two and a half years prior.
You know, I can just imagine the arrogance of those slave owners – “Well,
if Abe (cause you know they were not going to give him the respect of calling
him President Lincoln) thinks that these niggers are free, then he has to come
here himself and tell us. He will have
to pry them out of our cold dead hands!” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’ve lived in this country for around 25 years, and I have never
heard about Juneteenth before this year!
Never heard anything about it from any civil rights leader. Not from the media. Not from any educator. Not from the kids’ schools. Nowhere.
And, yeah it’s up to me to learn about my own history; but it’s the same
media that remind me when St. Patrick’s Day is looming, when Columbus Day is around
the corner, how many marches are taking place on Memorial Day. And by the way, Memorial Day and Independence
Day were all about barbeques until September 11, 2001!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But Juneteenth is an actual holiday. It became an official holiday in Texas in
1980, and about 45 states currently acknowledge it, either as a state holiday
or a ceremonial holiday, including New York and Pennsylvania where I’ve lived,
and I still never heard about it. Yet the
media would like to tell me stuff that I couldn’t care less about. Like the other day Kelly Clarkson’s weight made
news. I’m gonna make this real quick and
painless. In a nutshell, Fox News anchor<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span></span><span style="font-size: large;">Chris Wallace visited <i>The Mike Gallgher Show</i>, and this was
what happened. They were talking about Little
Caesar’s bacon-wrapped crust pizza when Gallagher </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><a href="http://www.mediaite.com/tv/foxs-chris-wallace-kelly-clarkson-could-stay-off-the-deep-dish-pizza/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">asked</span></a>, “Have you seen Kelly
Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly
Clarkson? Holy cow, did she blow up.”
Being the ultimate professional, Chris Wallace was not going to fall for
that bait and said, “Really? Do we want
to talk about some of your friends? Kelly
Clarkson’s got a lovely voice.” But,
alas it’s radio, and he just fell right into that trap and continued, “She
could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Well, of course he got into trouble. Was he far from the truth? Hell no!
Girlfriend has gained at least 100 pounds since she debuted on <i>American Idol</i>. Of course the public said he fat shamed
her. I’m assuming he dropped an
insincere public apology. I have no time
to locate it; it probably sounds like all other insincere public
apologies. She even went on <i>Ellen</i>, claiming that she didn’t care
what people say. LIAR!!! Remember when Mo’Nique used to curse ‘skinny
bitches’ and act like she was okay with her weight? Remember when Star Jones used to pretend that
being morbidly obese was not an issue, and if you didn’t mention the elephant
in the room (no pun intended) she wouldn’t either. Didn’t they both eventually lose the weight
and felt more ‘healthy’? We all care
what people say to some degree. Kelly
Clarkson even threw her infant under the bus, insinuating that she just had a
baby and what do people expect. Like I
said, Girlfriend gained about 100 pounds.
That baby did not weigh more than ten pounds. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But here’s the irony: Ellen is 25 years older than Kelly and half
the size, (or a third – she’s really big) but that’s not the problem because
according to Kelly, “we are who we are”.
But as I watched her sitting on the chair in that matronly dress with
her breasts resting on her gut, which in turn was resting on her lap, with her
legs too big to be crossed that they were left slightly ajar, and with Ellen sympathetically
telling her, “as long as you are happy and healthy” I thought to myself, “Who
the hell are they kidding?” And I just
know that years down the road, if she ever loses that weight, she will finally
admit that she knew she wasn’t healthy, that she knew she didn’t believe what
she was saying. But I’m digressing……..<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">One of the problems with the race relations in this country is
that White people (and you know I hate to generalize, but for argument’s sake,
I will just for today) are obsessed with places. In their world, people cannot comingle. Everybody has to stay in his place. Someone has to come in at first place; ergo
somebody has to take last place. The
concept of equality does not resonate in their minds. There has to be strict guidelines as to who
can go where, who can say what, who can do what.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Check it out. This country
has been obsessed with contests for decades.
And within the last decade, the contests have gotten more and more
ridiculous. It’s not enough to be the
smartest on <i>Jeopardy!</i></span>; <span style="font-size: large;">contestants
have to be degraded on shows like <i>American
Idol</i>, and all the<i> Housewives of All
the Cities</i>. I don’t watch them; but
you know the ones I’m talking about. I’m
surprised that shows like <i>The Price Is
Right </i>and<i> Wheel</i> <i>of Fortune </i>still exist. They are family friendly and do not aim to denigrate. </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But the problem with these contest shows is that they are too subjective.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m not saying that the judges cannot be unanimous;
but who’s to say that Contestant A is a better performer than Contestant B?</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then there are magazines like <i>People</i>
with the <i>Sexiest Man Alive</i> and <i>50 Most Beautiful </i>issues. How you are going to judge the sexiest man in
the world and don’t look outside of Hollywood is amazing! So the 50 most beautiful people in the world
today did nothing to change, yet next year, they’ve been downgraded because the
movie that they had out last year is no longer hip. And Americans still fall for this stupid
shit!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The Miss America and Miss USA pageants are hardly ever judged
fairly, yet they return every single year.
Even in sports, we have to deal with nonsense because even when the contest
is NOT subjective, and there’s a clear-cut winner, there still has to be bullshit
narrative. <i>American Pharoah</i> did what many racehorses couldn’t achieve and what
<i>Secretariat</i> did in 1973. When <i>Secretariat</i>
won the Triple Crown, there had been a 25 year drought. <i>Charismatic</i>
in 1999, <i>War Emblem</i> in 2002, <i>Funny Cide</i> in 2003, and <i>Smarty Jones</i> in 2004 all won the
Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, only to fall short in the Belmont Stakes</span>. <span style="font-size: large;">More recently, <i>I'll Have Another</i> in 2012 and <i>California
Chrome</i> in 2014 met the same feat.
So when <i>American Pharoah</i>
finally ended a 37 year drought for Triple Crown winners, you’d think that this
amazing thoroughbred, his jockey, his trainer, his owners and everyone involved
would get their time to shine. But
no! First thing people said was, <i>American Pharoah</i> is a great horse,
but he’s no <i>Secretariat</i>. If <i>Secretariat</i>
and <i>American Pharoah</i> were to run
against each other, <i>Secretariat</i> would
be x furlongs ahead of <i>American Pharoah</i>.<i> </i>First
off, Secretariat was born in 1970, American<i> Pharoah</i>
was born in 2012. Who’s to say what would
have happened if they actually raced against each other in any single race? THERE IS NO WAY TO EVER KNOW!</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It’s like comparing LeBron James to Michael Jordan. Jordan retired for the third and last time in
2003. About five months later, James entered
the league. Not only is the game played
differently, but they play differently and different positions. Stat-wise, Jordan leads in some areas, James
in others. Maybe we can wait until James
has retired for good, then make some kind of comparison; but no, people started
comparing Rookie LeBron to Retired Jordan.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Speaking of basketball, the NBA (National Basketball Association)
has a championship game every year.
There is one team from Canada, but somehow, when the time comes for the
championship games, these two teams are vying to see who will be the WORLD
CHAMPIONS. And nobody cares if it’s an
Olympic year and America doesn’t bring home the gold with the best of the
best. It’s quite fine for just one NBA
team to be the best in the world, just because America says so. But clearly America doesn’t care because it
does the same for hockey, baseball and football. And speaking of football, don’t even get me
started. This country not only changed
the name of real football to soccer, but it went ahead and stole the name for a
different sport where the athletes pretty much don’t use their feet.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So you see what kind of people we are dealing with, right. For years I’ve wondered, “Why don’t they like
us?” (us meaning Black people) How come we realize that (and again I know
many Black people who are prejudiced against White people for no reason at all,
well except the obvious <b><i>old</i></b> reason) we are all the same
inside, and pigment doesn’t make anybody better than anybody else? How come we judge people by their actions and
not by the color of their skin?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Jealousy is one reason why someone hates another for no reason at
all. But what can they be jealous of? We were the ones who were enslaved. We were the ones who were ruled. We are the ones who have zero power. We are the ones who struggle in poverty. What could they be jealous of? Could it be that no matter what they do to
us, we just pray (again I’m generalizing here, because you all should know by
now that that train has left my station) endlessly whenever they torment
us. We are the ones who forgive them
blindly no matter what they do to us.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The hatred that they have for us go so deep that they literally
don’t want us around. We can't go to
church. We can't go to the pool. We can't go to our own bachelor party. We can't go to the 7-11 for a late night
snack. We can't go home if we are a
Harvard professor or an African immigrant. We can't go to sleep if we are a 7 year old
girl. We can't go back to South Africa
where some of the earliest fossils were found because they’ve taken that
country for themselves. We can't go to Mars because they worked us for years
without pay, so we don't have old money. And even after they’ve killed us, they still desecrate
our burial sites.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Being baffled I said to myself, “If they didn't want us here, why
did they bring us from Africa in the first place?" Seriously, where in the world do they expect
us to go? The only solution I can come
up with for this deep-seated hate is that they do not want to live with the constant
reminder of the evil business of slavery.
And to make matters worse, we took the high road and have forgiven them
for the ultimate sin. Getting rid of us
is clearly not the solution. We have long forgiven you and moved on, so prospectively
speaking, White people, in order for you to also move on, you need to forgive yourselves.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">In the 1986 movie </span><i style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Soul Man</i><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">,
C. Thomas Howell’s character applied to and was accepted to Harvard Law School,
but when his rich dad decided not to pay his tuition, he applied for and
received a scholarship – for African-Americans Only.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Changing his appearance to look Black, he met
and fell in love with a real African-American (well technically, mixed race because
there was no way someone who was predominantly Black was going to be cast for
that role – that’s what women like Rae Dawn Chong are for).</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When he found out that she was the original
candidate for the scholarship and had to work as a waitress to support herself
and her son, he eventually came clean and repaid the funds he fraudulently
received.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Call me naïve, but that was one of my favorite movies. At 17, I was not offended by the concept of
the movie. Today, I still would not be
offended because movies are supposed to make us think, are supposed to
entertain us, are supposed to imitate life.
And the idea of someone pretending to be Black instead of the other way
around for personal gain is more funny than offensive in my humble opinion. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Therefore when I heard of Rachel Dolezal, I couldn’t help but see
the humor in it all. She is the 37 year old
head of the NAACP Spokane, WA chapter, and according to her parents, she is
WHITE! Biracial? No! Mixed race? No! Traces of Black? No! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So I just read a little bit more about Rachel, and here’s what I
found. She was always interested in Black culture. She married a Black
man. She has four Black adopted
siblings. She received a scholarship
from Howard University. She teaches
African American Studies at Eastern Washington University. She is a huge advocate for the Black
community, being a spokeswoman on race-influenced police violence, being
appointed chairwoman of a police oversight committee to keep an eye on
fairness in police work, and having </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">appeared </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">with Baltimore City State's Attorney
Marilyn Mosby after the Freddie Gray </span><s style="font-size: 13.5pt;">incident</s><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> murder.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Montana, where Rachel was born around 1978 had less than 0.25%
Black people.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Mississippi was about 36%
Black in 2000, but in Jackson where Rachel went to college, it was about 70%
Black; if you are in love with Black culture, that’s not a bad place to start.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">She went to Howard University for her
masters, which we know is predominantly Black.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">
</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Girlfriend finally hit the mother lode.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">
</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Spokane, WA where Rachel currently lives is about 3% Black, so it’s kind
of understandable why she could pass for Black amongst her peers.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I don’t know why, but the lady considers
herself Black.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Who am I to tell her
otherwise?</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">However, if someone in this country, heck in this world was going
to change who they were, why they wouldn’t choose to be a WHITE MAN is beyond
me. When it comes to privilege and
having life the easiest, nothing beats a White man. Yeah, it’s not politically correct to say that. It’s not politically correct to state the
obvious. Well, it’s not correct to sit
here and lie either. So pick your poison!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So for a White girl who grew up in Montana, to choose to identify
as Black in this day and age is quite interesting to me. One thing I give her props for is to wear
braided hair extensions on a regular basis.
Those things pull your hair out, are not easy to keep clean, can be very
uncomfortable and painful, although easy to maintain. And I’m not going to lie, she ROCKED those
braids!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It doesn’t bother me that she tanned herself to look darker; many
people of color bleach their skins to appear lighter. It doesn’t bother me that she changed her
hair to be kinkier/curlier; many people of color wear straight weaves. It doesn’t bother me that her job is to
champion human rights and the civil rights of Black people, even though she is
White. Well, her parents actually
admitted that she has some Native American in her.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">This is what bothers me mostly, that the NAACP still exists. Now, I don’t want to put anyone out of a job
because I know what it feels like to have a steady salary one day and the next
day you’re trying to figure out how quickly you can update your résumé. And I understand that although it’s not a
service that I need, there are others who might. According to their website, <b>the mission of the National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational,
social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate
race-based discrimination.</b> <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Even the name of the organization is redundant. Black people are not called colored
anymore…well, not in public. At least,
they don’t refer to themselves as colored, so that’s an advancement. The NAACP was founded in 1909, and it’s been
106 years, and although there has been vast improvement, racial discrimination
still exists in the political, educational, social and economic arenas of this
country.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Just like how dozens of women who were outed for simultaneously dating
a famous golfer do not seek help from NOW (National Organization for Women) and
go instead to Gloria Allred for guidance and counsel, whenever a Black unarmed
person gets shot by the police, no one calls the NAACP. The person who sets up the marches and the
protests is the one and only Al Sharpton.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m not saying that the NAACP doesn’t do anything; I’m just saying
that I haven’t seen them do much. And in
light of the fact that so much injustice still takes place in America, I want
to know how they use the $30 annual membership fee or the $750
lifetime membership fee paid over a 10 year span that they receive from the nearly
400,000 members. Oh, they’ll get you if
you are young too with membership starting from $10 a year to a $400 lifetime membership. Yes, I know that they give scholarships, but
$2,000 can only go so far. And yes, I
know every little bit helps, but let’s not pretend that they are paying anyone's way through college.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Rachel lied about being African-American. Rachel lied about the identity of her
father. And really and truly, it doesn’t
matter to me or clearly to the NAACP about the ethnicity of its leaders. Benjamin Jealous wasn’t all that colored, and
he served as President and CEO from 2008 to 2013. He had lots of drops of Black blood in him,
but back in the Jim Crow era, he could have passed for White ….. if he wanted
to.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Not only should the NAACP or any organization like that go away,
but the idea of classifying people in terms of color should also go away. If one can still abide with an organization
like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in 2015,
then Rachel Dolezal can abide by the one-drop rule and say that she’s Native
American. And I for one am tired of our
blackness being the first thing people mention about us, as if it’s not obvious.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Case in point, citing Wikepedia.org: <b>Barack

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So since the NAACP claims to protect the equal rights of all
people, it really shouldn’t matter if Rachel was Black or White. However, deep down, we know that if she had
applied for that job without implying that she’s Black, she would have never
gotten that job. I guess she thought it
would be better to ask for forgiveness than permission, which I’m sure she’ll
be doing shortly.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">A common definition of ethnicity is “socially defined category of
people who <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_(social_science)" title="Identity (social science)"><span style="color: black; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">identify with each other</span></a> based on common <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancestor" title="Ancestor"><span style="color: black; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">ancestral</span></a>, social, cultural or national experience”.
If Rachel’s parents think that she is
Swiss, German, Czech with some Native American, who is to say she doesn’t
have some African too? Maybe she doesn’t;
maybe she does. </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">Who cares? </span><span style="font-size: 18px;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But the woman, for

However, at the end of the day, she is working for an organization that is as superfluous as this
scandal, and perspectively speaking, that is the real scandal.</span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I usually have an opinion about pretty much everything, but this
time I don’t. I’m not saying that I
don’t have anything to say; I’m just not leaning either way. And the major reason is I JUST DON’T GIVE A
FLYING FIG!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I will agree with some of the memes, comments and statements, but
I just don’t care that much to give it that much oxygen. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Therefore I agreed with the meme with Kris Jenner pondering why he
didn’t spell Caitlyn with a K. Totally agree! Then I realized why. Someone speculated that Bruce is doing all of
this to garner as much attention as the women in his family. At first I thought, who cuts off his little
friend just for attention? But two
things: A) he still has his little
friend (I’ll get into that in a minute) and 2) nobody is talking about Kim’s
constant nakedness, so maybe. And spelling his name with a K will just make him
another plain old Kardashian.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Caitlyn introduced herself on the cover of Vanity Magazine wearing
a silky, white basque and matching underwear.
Not only do I not own a basque, I also had no idea that was what it was
called. <s>He</s> She appeared in a Porsche
commercial wearing a sexy red dress accenting <s>his</s> her breasts. I’m not saying that Bruce wasn’t trying to
find <s>himself</s> herself; I’m not saying if being Caitlyn makes Bruce happy,
then by all means do your thing, <s>boy</s> girl. I’m just saying that nobody was giving Bruce
any commercial. Nobody was paying any
attention to Bruce. Bruce was not on anybody’s
radar. I know these celebrities like to
re-invent themselves, but that’s taking it to a whole nother level.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Now ESPN has awarded <s>him</s> her with the Arthur Ashe Courage
Award. In the 1970s, Jenner became a
national hero after winning a gold medal in decathlon during the 1975 Pan
American Games and the 1976 Olympic Games.
He has set world records. He has
accomplished other feats like being named Associated Press Male Athlete of the
Year, being inducted in the Olympic Hall of Fame and the US National Track and
Field Hall of Fame and was the recipient of many awards. So yes, I applaud him for all that. By the way, he was a legit he then right? So it’s politically correct to refer to him as
him if I’m referencing the 70s, right?
(This is so frigging complicated.)
But for ESPN to give him the Arthur Ashe Courage Award just because this
time last year he was wearing a brief (or was he) and now he’s wearing a panty
is RIDICULOUS!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Some people might disagree and say it takes a lot of courage for
him to expose himself to the world like that.
Well, nobody asked him to pose is a basque (I like that word) on the
cover of an international magazine.
There are so many transgenders, and I know America likes to have a
famous face for every cause, but if Bruce had become Caitlyn for himself, I
would be the first one to give him his props.
That would send the message that he’s doing it for himself, for his own
happiness and to be a shining example to everyone to live his or her
truth. But the man wanted to get a reality
show out of this. However, that was
cancelled before it even started. The
man had interviews – I obviously didn’t watch them so I can’t tell you what he
said or didn’t say.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And for those of you who say it’s not our business, you are just
as ridiculous as <s>Bruce</s> Caitlyn, whatever <s>his</s> her name is. Again, if <s>he</s> she was just living <s>his</s>
her life and minding <s>his</s> her own business, then it wouldn’t be our
business. But from the time you appear
on the cover of a magazine in women’s underwear and your breasts are now bigger
than mine, heck I’m gonna talk. Then I
find out that you have breasts, but you kept your penis, you’re telling me that I’m not
going to be curious about what the hell you are.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And look, I’m not one for labels, but if Caitlyn was a man, but
now has breasts bigger than two ex-wives combined who also had implants, kept
his little friend, BUT will be dating women, what on earth is <s>he</s> she?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">All I know is that a lot of stuff is going on in the world, even in
this country. Beau Biden died from brain
cancer. A sitting vice-president’s son
died at the young age of 46, and all everyone wants to talk about is Caitlyn
Jenner. In his own rights, Beau Biden
was a former Attorney General from Delaware and a force in the Democratic Party. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Dennis Hastert, another conservative Republican whose sole purpose
in the late 90s was to impeach President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky
scandal, we are now finding out was a pedophile while he was a wrestling coach
and has paid off millions in hush money.
I’m not gonna lie – I’ve always told my kids that they can play any
sport they want EXCEPT wrestling. That
sport has always seemed very gay to me….not that there’s anything wrong with
that!!! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">There’s still no water in California. Tornadoes are ripping Colorado. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Serena Williams will be the first woman to win the Australian and
the French Open in the same year since Jennifer Capriati did it in 2001; and if
she remains unstoppable, she will be the first woman to win all four grand
slams in the same year since Monica Seles did it in 1992.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So it’s not as if there is nothing happening in politics, sports,
or the weather. Important things are
happening. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Okay, I lied. Or I misspoke. I still don’t give a rat’s ass, but boy do I
have an opinion! Seeing <s>Bruce</s>
Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity scared the crap out of me. Since I’m confessing here, it actually
grossed me out. The image of an old man
wearing too much makeup to look like a middle aged woman, the sight of a former
athlete whose muscular arms and thighs are also interwoven with the sag from
old age, the bad wig and baggy panties are images that perspectively speaking, I
will never be able to unsee for the rest of my life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">As a little girl, whenever we ran from worms or dogs or anything
that my mother deemed harmless, she would say, “What you all are supposed to be
afraid of, you’re not afraid of.” I used
to think, of course we are afraid of what we consider scary. As I got a little bit older, I realized that she
was referring to boys; and she most likely was talking to my older
sisters because when she died, I was 11 and had the body of a nine year old……boy.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">For the past 45 years, nobody was skillful enough to convince me
that ghosts existed. Not saying that
hearing the stories didn’t scare the crap out of me; and if we had to go home
alone in the dark, it wasn’t fun trying to see who was pulling up the
rear. And over the course of my life, I’ve
always known somebody who knew somebody who was a friend of somebody who got
possessed by demons and had to eventually leave Antigua for the United
States. And for some reason those same
people also knew of a young girl whose jealous neighbors went to an obeah
man/woman who worked obeah on her and she too had to leave. But for some reason, I never personally knew
these people; and no one I knew personally ever knew them personally.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If you are not familiar with the Charlie Charlie Challenge, here
it is in a nutshell: you balance a pencil
on another pencil, draw two lines to form four quadrants, write the words YES
and NO twice so that they are diagonal to the identical word. You summon this Mexican demon name Charlie…..go
figure. And if it lands on YES, something
something. If it lands on NO, you cannot
leave. Oh yeah, if it lands on YES, it
follows you home. I personally lost interest
halfway. Apart from Charlie not being a
common Mexican name, I have a few questions.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Does it matter what kind of pencils are used? Like do they have to be brand new? Have an eraser? Be perfectly sharpened? Do they specifically
have to be No. 2, because I know for exams that is a requirement? Some pencils are of very bad quality and
every time they get sharpened, they get smaller and smaller. Can these short pencils work? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Since Charlie is Mexican, do I have to call him Charlie Charlie by
the way, or one Charlie will do when I’m talking about him, BUT not summoning
him....digressing...if this game is played in some </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">African, </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">Asian</span><span style="font-size: 18px;"> or</span><span style="font-size: 18px;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">European country, is it
implied that Charlie is multilingual?</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I mean
<i>no </i>is <i>no </i>in both English and Spanish, and even if most Mexicans don’t know
English, they at least know <i>yes</i>.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But
what happens when kids who speak Swahili play this game?</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And my last issue is this, if it was that easy to summon a demon: two pencils, YES facing YES, NO facing NO on a piece of paper, why the hell did
people waste so much money hiring obeah men and women? If any child can summon a demon all the way
from Mexico at that, why are celebrities selling their souls to the Devil for
fame and fortune? If any idiot can
summon a demon, why did those people have to leave Antigua for good when they
were possessed? Couldn’t their enemies simply follow them and work obeah on them again once they crossed oceans?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When I first heard about the Charlie Charlie Challenge, I thought it
had something to do with Charlie Edbo, and I thought to myself, “Okay, as much
as you think these people are fanatical about their religion, it is not worth
dying over to piss them off.” Trying to
see if an Islamic extremist group will issue a fatwa on you if you write something
negative about Mohammed is a challenge.
Summoning a Mexican demon named Charlie that no one has actually ever seen
is a joke.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Look, I’m not trying to convince you not to believe any more than I
expect you to convince me to believe; however I just feel that praying for
protection from Charlie might be bit futile.
What might be more effective is telling your young daughters about charlie
if she comes into contact with one and was never given “the speech” because perspectively
speaking, without the right information and necessary tools, summoning that charlie
can cause her in nine months to deal with a demon for 18 years to life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Yes, Black people are very sensitive and sometimes paranoid. When Apple came out with new emojis, Clorox
tweeted, ‘New emojis are alright but where’s the bleach.’ Well, Black people took that as a racially charged
offense; stopped everything and called or rather tweeted Clorox out for being
racist. I mean nobody had time to find

removed that tweet and followed it with a more remorseful one: ‘Wish we could

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Clorox is not stupid. Over
there, they know how much Black people are crazy about clean clothes. Meanwhile, I’m over here thinking, “Is that
it? People are offended by emojis!” And I know for sure that there is no way that
I would have been hurt by bleachgate. Here’s
why. As a business major, I learned that
the number one goal of EVERY company is to make a profit. Looking at the photo of the Clorox bottle made
from emojis, I know that Clorox was just thinking about Clorox and not about
the new dark faced emojis. Just like how
Black people think that everything is about racism, Clorox thinks that
everything is about Clorox. Do you know
how much more money Clorox would make if it had an emoji? </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Secondly, as an old schooler, I don’t think I’d have time to
update or locate a<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirfw2CYxldXfSx3IdJsIrIJra1EBfpFMsQqezc37RVnpQ_sUArbvQA6Ms-DoMAuMPhA8U3y9e89Gl4_pnZO1nQjIGj9mSwSeASvTd2iSZ7DhguVkU0Mu0HNW-_8dOrMDk8IGOQamoTkU4/s1600/toilet.png" imageanchor="1" style="font-size: 13.5pt; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirfw2CYxldXfSx3IdJsIrIJra1EBfpFMsQqezc37RVnpQ_sUArbvQA6Ms-DoMAuMPhA8U3y9e89Gl4_pnZO1nQjIGj9mSwSeASvTd2iSZ7DhguVkU0Mu0HNW-_8dOrMDk8IGOQamoTkU4/s1600/toilet.png" /></a></span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">on my cell phone. If I
have to go to the toilet, I don’t think that I’d be so busy that I can’t write
the actual word. Plus, we just are in
the habit of giving way too much information.
If I have to go, BRB will suffice.
Who needs to know if I’m going to take a dump, eat dinner, have a
quickie or take a nap? I’m assuming
that’s what an emoji like that would be used for. I’m not technologically smart enough, so please
correct me if I’m wrong.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But this is America; and this is 2015, dammit. There are plenty of things that are actually
racially insensitive. There are plenty
of things that are actually prejudiced against us, and Clorox trying to
increase its bottom line is not one of them.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">For instance, outside my neighborhood, there is a miniature golf
course called the Golf Plantation. Can you imagine
how people would cringe if that was called Auschwitz Golf Camp? And please don’t tell me that that is quite a
leap because just the other day, Coca-Cola got in trouble with the Jews. As Fanta celebrated its 75th
anniversary, it greeted us with a little history of how it originated. As people realized that Fanta was invented
because Coca-Cola’s German operation could not get the ingredients for coke to
the bottling plants during World War II because of trade embargos with Nazi
Germany, all hell broke loose. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Of course Coca-Cola pulled the ad.
What, Jews don’t drink Fanta? And
if they learn the history after the fact, will Fanta taste differently? What would happen if Black people decided
that they would never wear cotton? Or what if we
decided to stop using sugar? (Actually
that might not be a bad thing with diabetes and all.) Or what if we decided never to step on a boat,
go on a bed or a ship because
the first propeller was invented by Benjamin Montgomery, the corded bed was
invented by Henry Boyd, and Benjamin
Bradley invented the steam engine? All
these men were slave inventors whose creations alleviated the lives of others. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Every Easter, millions of Black people go to church to celebrate
the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter
usually, but not every year, coincides with Passover which is when the Jews
celebrate their exodus from Egypt. So it
makes me wonder, why Black people don’t celebrate the anniversary of their
freedom every January 1 to commemorate the proclamation signed by President
Lincoln on January 1, 1863. Oh, could it
be because the proclamation was just an executive order and not a law passed by
Congress? I know it couldn’t be because
over 600,000 people died during the Civil War.
I mean, for Black people to celebrate that proclamation would not seem
insensitive in light of the demise of hundreds of thousands of people, right. If that were the case, then there would be no
need for us to debate the insensitivity of the Confederate flag still proudly flying
on people’s trucks, in front of their houses and outside some federal buildings.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Although the swastika is over 3,000 years old, because of its use
by Nazi Germany, it is now prohibited in many countries, if it is used as a
symbol of hate; but its sight alone is just simply frowned upon. And although its presence sends a lot of
people into a tizzy, people like me have to endure driving by the Golf
Plantation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">As a Black person, I can see why we have become so sensitive and
paranoid. With the police pulling people
over just for being Black, driving a car that is too nice, driving in a neighborhood
that is too polished; with police killing close to a thousand people each year
just for being Black; with owners of basketball teams saying that they don’t
want Black people attending the games; with frat boys singing that they don’t
want Black people in their fraternities, I guess anyone can see why Black
people can be a tad bit touchy.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I mean, long before our cause was being championed by Martin
Luther King, Jr. and others, women’s suffrage was a done deal. After child labor laws were passed, people became cautious
about taking advantage of youths working for them. Although there will always be bigots,
Italians, Irish, Jewish and Asian people don’t get near as much flak as they
did many years ago. But for some reason,
when it comes to Black people, it’s like bigots have reverted to the Jim Crow
era.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So it is understandable why Black people have to fight for every
little thing, like Black woman forever stating that the color ‘nude’ does not
apply to us. And after many decades, I
found out why Band-Aids are the color that they are – they were not made with
Black people in mind. As if we don’t get
cuts too!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But these latter fights are easily fixable. Either we don’t buy Band-Aids or ‘nude’
clothing and makeup or we make our own.
And there are generic emojis that one can use if one is not comfortable
using a White faced one; but perspectively speaking, wasting time and energy
about not seeing ourselves represented in emojis is time and energy we are not
spending in seeing ourselves represented in leadership roles within law enforcement, legislative branches,
corporations and civil service where we can actually make a difference.</span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Does that offend you? Well,
how do you think I felt having those words hurled at me? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Even before the shock wore off, I got into analyzing mode. Did he mean niggas, like his dawgs, his peeps? Did he mean niggaz because I’m are so cool? Nope, he was angry. He meant niggers!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So this was what happened.
It was a Sunday morning, and what do non-churchgoers do on a Sunday
morning, the one day of the week where there are no kids to drop off, no kids
to pick up, no games to watch, no concerts to watch? Well, if you’ve had a really tough winter
like we did, and on that Sunday you were gifted with awesome weather, then you
go to exercise – take a few laps around the tracks, play some tennis. So there I was playing some great tennis, if
I do say so myself. And you know what, I
do say so myself. Not only was I returning
the balls, but they were actually making it on the court. I was making my husband work for his
points. I was getting some much needed
exercise. I was enjoying the great
weather, finally.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So the tennis courts are pretty close to the streets, and the next
thing I know I hear the horn of a greyish/creamish pickup. I’m thinking that I don’t know anyone who
drives that color pickup, but since the horn was directed at me, I conceded. I’m thinking it’s almost 8 am, on a Sunday
morning at that, so who could it be, and would they even be able to recognize
me? Hey, it must be my neighbor down the
street. Sharon is always on the go, and
always early. But no, it’s not a dreadlocked
Black woman with an ever present smile. Wait,
John, another neighbor has a similar pickup.
But why would John be up that early?
And there is no way he would have recognized me playing tennis. But since all of this is happening in seconds,
although it felt like slow motion, I finalized that it is John and waved.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">OH……MY……GOD! It wasn’t John
either. It was some frigging
rednecks. And with venom, one of them
screamed those words at me and my husband.
And the first thought that came to my mind was, “Is that how they see
me?” I don’t see myself as a nigger, or even
a nigga, and certainly not one of the niggaz.
Those words are not even in my vernacular. I don’t even like to hear them in songs. Then I remembered; this is not the first
time. Please, not even the second
time. In hindsight, the kids and I have
been subjected to that as we played tennis.
But since it always sounded like an afterthought, we’d go like, “Did
they just say that?” But never had I heard
it so clearly; and never was it directed at me so potently.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then as I tried to get my head back in the game, I thought, “Wait,
what if that man is the husband of one of my kids’ teachers?” Or even worse, “What if he’s an actual
teacher?” Or the worst, “What if he’s
the father of one of my kids’ friends and has hosted my child for a sleepover?” Oh no, what if he’s smiled at me in the past
because our paths crossed. But would he
have done that, knowing that he had such words in his heart? Could be. Oh shit, what if he’s on the school board? Oh please don’t let him be the cop that ever
finds the need to pull me over. After all,
I am usually going 15 to 20 miles over the speed limit. They are just suggestions, right? I mean, nobody really drives 40 miles per
hour. And who drives 55 on the
highway? Not even grannies! Geez, he better not be a prosecutor, judge, or
lawmaker. The list was endless.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But before I finally got my head back in the game, I thought to
myself, so what if I was a nigger? Does
that mean that I don’t pay taxes and don’t deserve to use the tennis
courts? Can I not be in my own
community? Don’t I belong here? And it got me thinking, even if a person is a
nigger or a redneck, an evangelical or an atheist, a liberal or a conservative,
gay or straight, obese or skinny, perspectively speaking, he or she still has
the right to enjoy a game of tennis without being bullied.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Other than that, get a clue, find a clue, buy a clue. Shoot, pretend you have a clue.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So don’t tell me that the Jeopardy! category ‘Healthy Cooking with
Michelle Obama’ with her giving video clues looked like she shaved her
head. And I can understand the idiots in
the peanut gallery wondering if the First Lady of the United States really
shaved her head. But for professionals
to request comments from Jeopardy! and from the White House is ridiculous.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Common sense would tell anyone that her hair is pulled back. And I for one get it. I realized many decades ago that that style
was not for me. After trying it a few times,
I decided not to unleash the full force of my big forehead onto the world. The First Lady was in the White House
kitchen. I doubt if her intention was to
look glamorous. That pulled back style
is used often by dancers. Lilith Crane from
the sitcom, Frasier, was famous for it…when she wasn’t trying to seduce Frasier. Unfortunately, common sense is not as common
as one would think; and people actually thought that maybe Michelle Obama was
sick. They questioned the lighting, the
excess gray hair on a 51 year old woman, the angle of the cameras. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But other than all of those stupid questions, why on Earth would
the First Lady of the United States shave her head while representing this
country? And if she was indeed getting
bald, how is it possible that she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show two
weeks prior with a full head of hair, and is now completely bald? And if she was indeed balding, doesn’t she
have professionals to fix that.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Beauton Gilbow, the 79 year old house mother of the SAE fraternity,
was seen on the infamous video chanting nigger nigger nigger nigger and
laughing like it was 1815 in the Deep South.
Therefore, when she told a TV reporter that she had never heard that
song before, we certainly did not believe her.
And naturally, when confronted about the video, she replied that she has
friends of all races and was just singing along to the Trinidad James’ song ‘All
Gold Everything’. She was actually
surprised that the video made her look racist.
First off, I’ve never heard of Trinidad James, and Granny is decades
older than me. Secondly, you know Granny
is not listening to crappy rap in her spare time. Is she that clueless to ‘have friends of all
races’ and not know that acting in that manner wouldn’t offend them all?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then there is Levi Pettit, whose parents first apologized for his
“disgusting” behavior but claimed that he is not racist. A few days later, he apologized himself,
flanked by Black religious and civic leaders of Oklahoma City. This is in part what he said, “I never
thought of myself as a racist. I never considered it a possibility.” At least ringleader Parker Rice never claimed
that his actions don’t make him racist.
But again, drunk or not, how could they not know that this was offensive
to one race – the human race? Poor
Levi. He had no idea that what he said
in the song would be so hurtful. </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">L</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum is the current president of Spellman
College. At 60 years old, she has been
an educator for more than half of her life, having been a professor, department
chair and dean before joining one of America's oldest </span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historically_black_colleges_and_universities" title="Historically black colleges and universities"><span style="color: black; font-size: 13.5pt; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">historically black
colleges</span></a><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> for women. She also authored three books. Therefore, I can imagine how shocked she was
after giving a speech when a White man came up to her and said how impressed he
was and if he hadn’t seen her, he would think that she was White.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I know he thought he was giving her a compliment, but how ignorant
did he sound? First of all, not all
White people are educated, and most of them certainly do not talk like
professors. Has he ever watched Jerry
Springer? Does ‘Here Comes Honey Boo
Boo’ ring a bell?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">News Anchor Kristi Capel sat adjacent to her Black colleague Wayne
Dawson and said about Lady Gaga, “It's hard to really hear her voice with all
the jigaboo music.” After viewers called
her out, she replied on Twitter “I apologize if I offended you, I had no idea
it was a word or what it meant. Thank you for watching.” I’m not even going to respond to this one!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The way Detective Patrick Cherry</span> <span style="font-size: large;">berated an Uber driver,
one would not believe it wasn’t his own child, who he probably doesn’t even speak
to in that manner. Check this clip out
yourself, because I can’t. I seriously
can’t. Of course he sincerely
apologized, but he just could be sincerely sorry for losing his badge and gun. <a href="http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/04/cop-sort-of-apologizes-to-uber-driver-over-xenophobic-rant-that-went-viral/">http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/04/cop-sort-of-apologizes-to-uber-driver-over-xenophobic-rant-that-went-viral/</a></span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I won’t bore you with the many insults the Obama Family has had to
endure over the past eight years. Time
does not permit; and I am not about to conjure up that much hate on this good
Monday morning. But I guess what baffles
me is how a regular person just cannot go online and search the word ‘melanin’. It is simply the pigment that gives human
skin, hair, and eyes their color. So
when ignorant people ask, “how come you two are related when you are so much
darker”, it makes you wonder how come they don’t ask their mom the same
question about their sibling’s eye color or hair color. When they disregard people with darker
complexions yet complain that men treat blonds better than they, you have to
wonder how they cannot see the similarity.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Unfortunately it is not only race that has the foot-in-mouth
disease. Here are just a couple of incidents.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Jonah Hill, seen to some as a cherubic comedic genius, or to me as
a chubby unfunny actor, was so annoyed by a paparazzi hounding him last summer,
that in his rage he yelled, “Suck my dick, you faggot!” Yes, Jonah Hill! The same Jonah Hill who has always been so
vocal in supporting the gay community.
He then went on a series of talk shows professing that from the day he
was born, he’s been a gay-rights activist.
Now that he mentioned it, I remember seeing him in a purple onesie once </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 13.5pt;">J</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> During his Tonight Show apology, he said in
part, “I’m leaving here to go to spend the day with one of my closest
co-workers and best friend, who is gay, who is getting married, and who I’m
going to go stand at his wedding.”</span>
<span style="font-size: large;">That gives the ‘some of my best friends are Black’ a new spin.</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Everyone knows Joey Casselberry</span>, <span style="font-size: large;">right? Of course not! Well, after March 21, 2015, a lot of us
did. He tweeted, “Disney is making a
movie about Mo’ne Davis? WHAT A JOKE. That slut got rocked by Nevada.” Now common sense, which we know not everyone possesses,
should have clued Little Joey in on the fact that one does not call any woman
that word, much less a sweet looking 13 year old, of which he has no personal
knowledge. After the backlash, he
offered, “An example that one stupid tweet can ruin someone's life and I
couldn't be more sorry about my actions last night. I please ask you to.” He was sorry alright. Sorry he got kicked off the team, and Mo’ne’s
plea for him to be reinstated didn’t even help.</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">You know what I would like?
I would really like for someone who says something asinine or derogatory
in public or writes some batshit comment on social media, who then gets busted
and has to apologize, to do this – to say something like, “I’m not sorry for
what I said. I’m just sorry that I got
caught,” because perspectively speaking, every time I hear these heartfelt
insincere apologies, that is exactly what I hear.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So I was checking my email.
Yes, on AOL! And I saw something
about the dress that broke the Internet.
I noticed at the bottom that it was blue and black, but in the main
story it was gold and white. But I also
noticed that it was quite ugly and mature looking. Now in my mind, at 45 I still think I’m
25. So maybe someone would think that
dress is right up my alley, while I’m thinking that dress is for an older
lady. I don’t know……say somebody in her
40s. It’s amazing right. They say 40 is the new 20, and I think they
mean that we in our 40s still think that we are in our 20s. And I’m guilty of it sometimes. Some days I look in the mirror and I think, “Damn! You’re 45?”
And other days I look in the mirror and I think, “Damn. You <b><i>are</i></b> 45.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Another reason why I ignored the dress was because I’m too old and
too jaded to waste my time on frivolous things that the media call news. “Bobbi Kristina has come out of a coma.” Not my concern. “Bobbi Kristina is getting worse.” Not my concern. And it’s not that I don’t care about Bobbi
Kristina because I really don’t care either way. It’s just that I don’t know her, and these
things are not really news to me. “Any
Kardashian has done anything.” I unapologetically
do <b>not</b> care. Life is way too short for me to give these
people any of my time. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So when I saw an article about a dress, I couldn’t give a flying
fig. However, the kids came home from
school, and they couldn’t wait to tell me that for the entire day at school and
on the bus, kids were arguing about the color of a dress. Then I said, “Wait. That dress was such big news?” My daughter showed it to me on her iPod, and
to her it looked gold and white, but to me and her twin brother, it looked blue
and black. Her dad thought it looked
blue and black, and so did my younger son, but my nephew thought it looked gold
and white. They shared with me that kids
on the bus and at school were seriously arguing about it with each other. I was amazed that the kids took time out to
stop roasting each other and the poor bus driver to discuss the color of a
dress that looked gold and white to some and black and blue to others.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Around 11:30 pm, my husband’s cell phone rang. I realized he was talking to a fellow
employee, and when I heard him mention something about color, I couldn’t wait
for him to get off the phone. Teasingly,
I said, “Was that about the dress?” Boy
was I shocked when he said yes. My
husband does not waste too much time on important things much less on trivial stuff,
so now I’m curious as to why he was having that discussion at 11:30 at night. But there was a valid reason. The person on the other end mixed him up with
another Francis with whom he was having the discussion earlier in the day and
couldn’t wait to tell him that he saw it over the news. Later the next day, I too saw it over the
news!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Like I said, the dress is pretty unattractive, so whether it’s
blue and black or gold and white or periwinkle and mustard, it really doesn’t
matter. The whole concept just drove
home a deeper meaning to me. We are all
individuals. Sometimes we could have the
same genes and still have different perspectives. Why are people fighting over the fact that
some see blue and black and others see gold and white? Isn’t it sufficient that they all see one
ugly dress? We have different moral
compasses. We have different beliefs
about the same deity. We have different
levels of compassion, sorrow, vanity, love and every other emotion that one can
think of. What we need to do is to just
accept others for how they see the same world around us. Accept others for how they view ideas in this
same world; accept others for their varying theories about everything because
perspectively speaking, it doesn’t matter how much we try to make those around
us see things our way; they can only see things their way.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">That is what I wish I could tell my son’s school. I get a call about once a month, well, I used
to, but lately it’s becoming more frequent, about something he did or didn’t
do. And I think to myself, “Are they
kidding? Do they have any idea what I go
through with him at home? But they don’t
see me calling them every minute.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’ve always said that if he were my oldest, I would have stopped
at one. I’ve said that 2/3 or 66% is not
so bad. I’ve convinced myself that him
being the youngest I’ve slacked off due to fatigue. I’ve considered that he got the worse genes
from both parents. I’ve been trying to
figure out this kid’s problem for almost 13 years. And I think I’m getting close. I have decided that there is not a problem;
instead, I have to take the good with the bad.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Every day this pain in the ass kid leaves the car, he seldom
forgets to give me a kiss. When he
returns home, I look forward for a kiss form his cold lips. When he turns during the nights (he still finds
his way in my bed) he always plants a kiss on my face. He seldom sulks. He is in a great mood 95% of the time. Little things excite him because he is just
full of life. Is he going to be
perfect? Hell no! Can I pick which traits will be his dominant
ones? I wish. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">This is what I’m dealing with now.
A daughter who is a perfectionist, who is usually at the top of her
game. A son who works hard, and usually
gets the raw end of the stick. And my
bonus child who is alive solely to have fun.
Case in point: They all made
their schools’ basketball teams. My
freshman daughter made the Varsity team as a starter. Ended up scoring over 125 points and was a
leader in various categories. Her twin
made his Freshman team and as hard as he worked, as many times as he scored as
soon as he gets a minute or two in the game, inasmuch as he scored over 60
points while playing barely 10% of each game, he just couldn’t get the respect
that he deserved. Then there was my
problem child. Great point guard. Wasn’t a starter either. Debatable, but won’t comment any
further. Gets thrown off the team close
to the end of the season due to bad behavior.
Punishment not debatable, but still won’t comment any further. Have to give dude some kind of privacy, after
all.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But after my daughter’s last game, as my husband and I watched the
local news, I was so proud to see not only the game featured, but to hear her
name being called (and correctly, I might add), to see her land a deep two
pointer (the reporter’s words, not mine) and to see her on the court for a few
more seconds. It was one of the proudest
moments of my life as a parent. Then it
dawned on me that I was equally as proud of her twin for working his butt off
and scoring over 60 points, off, off, off the bench, you know like some unheard
of Broadway show. And as much as I don’t
condone his actions, I was just as proud of my Lil’ Man for never veering far from
who he is. The next morning when her brothers
saw the clip, they were just as proud of her as we were, which made me even
more proud that they didn’t harbor any envy towards her being in the spotlight.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">As a mother, I’m thankful that I don’t punish myself or feel
guilty for every little thing that my children do, although I do believe that it
is all a reflection of me. But I do
worry that they will get out of control if I cannot get them to follow every
step of my anal commands. Then it hit me
– there are THREE children with the same genes but not the same genetic makeup,
so how is it my fault that one child listens and another one doesn’t? How is it my fault that one child is focused
and another child is only focusing on sports?
How is it that two children usually do their chores and one is usually
hiding from his chores? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So now instead of wondering where I went wrong with him, instead
of hoping that he can be a little bit more like his sister, instead of wishing
that he and his brother wouldn’t butt heads so much, I have realized that when
that spermatozoon hit that ovum to form that zygote, it all happened haphazardly. I was having fun then and perspectively
speaking, I will have to find a way to have fun with that outcome! <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I do not consider myself an animal lover. It’s not that I hate animals. Well, except for cats. Well, except for Stripes, my sister’s
cat. I profoundly hate that cat!!! Don’t like him. He is mean-spirited, spiteful and
wicked. He has attacked me, and without
provocation I might add, and too many others, for him to ever be considered a
sweet cat. I swear I never messed with
that cat because I had seen what he was capable of doing. Granted I never really liked cats in the
first place, so there was no reason for me to even acknowledge that creature. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The only bad thing(s) I ever did to our childhood cat was to lift
him a few feet above the ground and drop him.
But it was for research; I wanted to see if cats really do land on their
feet no matter how high you drop them.
The theory was proving right until I dropped him a few inches above ground
level and realized that it all depends on how high the drop is. Oh and I used to put him in a bag and spin it
around, let him out and see if he could walk straight. That too was for research. I had heard that it didn’t matter how much
you spun a cat around, it always had good balance. But other than that, I am ALWAYS kind to
animals.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">After all, I love puppies, especially fluffy ones. Would I own a fluffy puppy at this point in
my life? Hell, no! I just don’t have time to take care of
another living being at the moment. Or
any other moment in the future, I might add.
Have I owned dogs? Oh yeah. Have I loved dogs? Very much so.
Do I like dogs now? Not
really. I don’t particularly like other
people’s dogs because I’ve been attacked by too many. And by attack I mean been run at, been
growled at and been barked at. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But to be a member of PETA, to announce that I love animals more
than I do people, to stop eating animal products, it’s just not that serious
for me. I will not condone the senseless
acts of cruelty towards animals, but there is no way I’m going to lay down my
life for an animal.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So when there was an outcry from ‘animal advocates’ about the Go
Daddy Super Bowl ad featuring a lost puppy that returned home safely, only to
be told by the owner that she just sold him online, I’m sorry but I just didn’t
see the tragedy that ‘animal advocates’ saw.
And I use the term animal advocates loosely because I have never seen
any of them stopped their car, got out and checked on the half dead skunk on
the side of the road. And I can’t
imagine that they would give a dying skunk mouth to mouth or take him to a
vet. And living in the Poconos for 10
years now, I have never heard of any group protesting the hunting of deer or any
other animal.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The puppy looked healthy to me.
I have no reason to assume that the owner/business woman was holding
that puppy under bad conditions. Were I
to purchase a puppy, and I Googled and saw that a puppy like that was for sale,
I would be inclined to purchase that puppy online. Not everyone who sells a puppy online is part
of a sadistic puppy torturing club. Like
many small entrepreneurs, some people just use the Internet as a method of
doing business. We go to amazon.com and
purchase a plethora of items, and some of them we use on ourselves and our
children and even on our precious pets, so what’s wrong, pray tell, with buying
a pet online?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I have seen those ‘philosophical’ questions like, “If you have to
save your favorite pet or a person from drowning, who would you choose?’ Allow me to answer: If I had to save my beloved dog, Portia, who
I loved more than any pet I ever had or Donald Trump, who I despise more than
any individual on this planet - don’t ask why – he just rubs me the wrong way –
and I could only choose one of them, without even thinking, I’d choose the
Donald! Portia was a dog. At times, my morals might be questionable in
other people’s eyes, but for Pete’s sake, I’ve always credited myself with
having great values. There is no way on
this Earth, than any pet should come before any human being. Sure, Donald is the biggest richard out
there, just a tad above Kanye West, but at the end of the day, he is still
somebody’s father, somebody’s brother, somebody’s cousin, somebody’s baby at
one point. He is still a human
being. And as obnoxious as he is, no
animal should ever come before him.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Anyway, after Go Daddy placed that ad online just before the Super
Bowl, just like Budweiser did this year and last year with that cute puppy and
the horses, all hell broke loose, just like those horses did in the Budweiser commercial
when that cute puppy went missing. But
whereas the cute puppy in the Budweiser commercial returned safely home to play
with the horses for the rest of its life, the Go Daddy puppy returned safely
only to be sold. And that did not sit
too well with animal activists. They
signed petitions. They bitched. And voila, Go Daddy pulled the ad for the
Super Bowl <b>AND</b> apologized!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Well, who the hell do BLACK ACTIVISTS have to holler at? Where is a petition for us to sign? Who do we bitch to? What do Black people have to do to get an
iota of respect in this country? Dammit,
even a frigging Golden Retriever gets more love than us? What the hell!!! And no, I’m not marching. You see what that did to Al Sharpton,
right? I’m already 135 pounds to begin
with. I can’t lose that much weight.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It cannot be about money alone because as of a year ago, African
Americans had $1.1 trillion in buying power.
And as much weave as I see my sisters wearing, that figure must have
gone up to $1.5 trillion; and I’m being generous here. We make up almost 15% of the population of
the United States, coming in at about 50 million people. So we also have the numbers. The President of the United States is Black, and
so is the Attorney General; ergo we have some kind of power, along with 9%
representative in Congress.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Just last year, the Hollywood It Girl was an African with a
complexion the color of my keyboard and naturally short hair that no one would
describe as curly. She is just as
beautiful as many girls I grew up with or came into contact with; but the world
thought her beauty was a breath of fresh air.
So we are gaining in this world.
But for some reason, overall, the color of our skin, the texture of our
hair, the fullness of lips and hips deter us from gaining the respect that we
deserve; and as long as I live, I will never truly understand why, so
perspectively speaking, don’t ask me to sign a petition for the protection of
any animal while my people are becoming an endangered species. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Some people honestly believe that either you are with me, or you
are against me. Proudly, I have never
believed that. I am one of the most
objective and practical individuals that I know, if I do say so myself. And you know what? I do say so myself. I have learned to separate my feelings for
someone or something in the best interest of common decency. There are some ideas that one person holds
that another cannot and will not grasp, and those two individuals can still
have a lot of common ground. I get
it. I may not always like it; but I live
with it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If you don’t know what has recently transpired with the police and
the Mayor of New York City, then you’ve been living under a rock. For Pete’s sake, even I know; and I can’t
stand to watch the news much anymore.
Anyway, in light of the recent chokehold killing of Eric Garner and the
execution of Michael Brown, with a half-Black son, Mayor Bill de Blasio
mentioned that he and his wife talk to their son about how to deal with the
police. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Well, you would have thought that the Mayor and his Rastafarian
wife had just come out of their bunker in the woods of Maine gripping a
manifesto on how to annihilate New York’s Finest. Instead, all Billy said was “What parents
have done for decades who have children of color, especially young men of
color, is train them to be very careful when they have ...an encounter with a
police officer”. Is he lying? You know he’s not. And you don’t have to be a person of color to
know it either.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Unfortunately, that statement could cost him a second term. The NYC police force wants nothing to do with
the Mayor, and they are not shy about it either. Tragically, two weeks after that statement,
two police officers, sitting in their patrol car, were assassinated by an
individual who tweeted that he would seek revenge for the deaths of Eric Garner
and Michael Brown. Like customary, the
Mayor spoke at the funerals. And in the
‘if you are not with me, you are against me’ mentality, police officers turned
their backs on him when he walked by and also during his speech…..at both
funerals. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">With NBA players and others wearing T-shirts with the words <b>I CAN’T BREATHE</b>, symbolizing Eric
Garner’s final words before his death, protesters took to wearing <b>I CAN BREATHE</b> T-shirts at rallies
supporting police officers. Now, where is
it written that the opposite of standing for the rights of the hundreds of
innocent people killed by police annually is equivalent to supporting coward
police officers who shoot first and ask questions later? If people speak up about the mistreatment of
some police officers against minority in this country, how can it implicitly
mean that all police officers are bad? Why
is it that people can’t take a step or two back and look at the situation and
say, “I get that when we need help, we call 911 and expect the police to come;
but we still have to call out injustice by police officers?” Of course we rely on them to protect us, (it’s
part of the job description), but we also have to find a way to work on the
trust between some members of the public and some members of the police force
without it being seen as anti-police.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then there is the Bill Cosby fiasco. I look at Bill Cosby, and I think “fresh old
man”. I always have, but that never
stopped me from enjoying his work. So on
one hand, I’m inclined to believe that maybe he performed some questionable acts
on these women. On the other hand, it
just seems fishy that he assaulted so many women, some even decades ago, and no
one ever found the courage to have him prosecuted ‘so that he never does that
to another woman again’; but all of a sudden, there is a Tiger Woods’ slew of
women telling us that he drugged and assaulted them, digitally and otherwise. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Bottom line, like most things that are taking place in the media,
I’m totally indifferent. But as liberal
as I am, there is no way that I would have been in a position to have Bill
Cosby knock me out and have his way with me.
And frankly, I don’t care who thinks I’m ‘victim shaming’. We just have to use common sense. You don’t go into a man’s dressing room or
hotel room, if you don’t know him like that.
I don’t care if it’s Bill Cosby or Barack Obama…..well, with
Barack….hmmmmm. I kid! I kid!
Seeing a person on TV and knowing him are two separate things. For Bill Cosby or any other celebrity, male
or female, to drug me and have his or her way with me, it would have to be in
broad daylight AND in a public setting, and then they would have to conspire
with all the strangers in the surrounding space. ….you get me?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But guilty or innocent, the man cannot be tried and convicted in
the court of public opinion. People are
saying that these ladies have nothing to gain by coming forward now. Well, they also had nothing to gain by coming
forward then; so why didn’t they? However,
these same people think that his defenders have so much to gain. The other day over <b><i>The Talk</i></b>, Sharon Osbourne
claimed that Phylicia Rashād is defending him for the residual income she stands
to gain. Really, Sharon? Really?
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Lady Phylicia Rashād has been in the entertainment industry for
over 40 years. And I use the term lady
because she is one woman who ALWAYS epitomizes that word. I have never seen her act unladylike (not
that there is anything wrong with that).
But she has known Bill Cosby for over 30 years and worked closely with
him for several. If she believes that
she doesn’t know that side of him, then who is Sharon Osbourne to doubt her? If she believes that people are conspiring to
ruin his legacy, why isn’t she entitled to her opinion as much as Rosie
O’Donnell is entitled to hers? The way
Rosie talks and acts regarding the issue, one would believe that she was an
actual eyewitness. Yeah, as quiet as
Rosie is, she was able to sneak into the rooms, lie quietly next to the couch
or bed and observe the assaults. Phylicia
Rashād has been nominated and won countless awards. She is widely known and respected in the
industry and outside. She is a multi-millionaire. What is residual income going to do for her?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The slippery slope that comes with everyone joining the side of
convicting him, is the public embarrassment they will face, if he is found not
guilty. People tend to rush into these
fires without looking. Just the other
day, Joe Paterno’s record was re-established.
Short version: After Jerry
Sandusky was <i>accused</i> of molesting dozens
of boys, Joe Paterno and Penn State were robbed of the record of Paterno being
the winningest coach in college football history. When Jerry was assaulting those boys, I
wasn’t there, and I highly doubt if Joe was.
I don’t know if he covered up or didn’t cover up anything, but I would
imagine that as a colleague and friend, Joe would never believe that the
mild-looking Jerry was capable of such acts.
But to take his record, to tarnish his reputation, to punish the college
and the athletes for something that Jerry did was a jackass, dunce move. Ultimately, Jerry went to trial. Jerry was convicted. Jerry is serving his time. It has nothing to do with Joe Paterno, who
probably paid with an early death.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Oh January 7, two Islamist gunmen attacked the offices of French
satirical magazine, <b><i>Charlie Hebdo</i></b>, killing 12 people. To show solidarity, people began using the
phrase, <i>Je suis Charlie</i>. Days later, numerous rallies all across
France were organized as another form of solidarity, supported by many heads of
government. When President Obama did not
show up to link arms with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President François
Hollande, Conservatives were ready to gently lay his head on the
guillotine. After all, it wasn’t enough
that he sent the American Ambassador to France to represent – he had find a way
to organize security in a public place on short notice. It wasn’t enough that every sane person knows
how he felt, he had to show up in person to march. But let him march with Al Sharpton! Let him just try it. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And if he had gone to Nigeria instead to show support to the more
than 2,000 people killed in the village of Baga by Boko Haram, I wonder how
that would have gone over with the Conservatives. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan viciously
condemned the killings in Paris but was mum about the January 3 – 7 slayings of
over 2,000 of his countrymen, and all I hear from Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio is
crickets. In fact, not too long ago, Republican
leaders used to mock John Kerry about being too French; now that he too skipped
the march, he is not French enough. In
2003 when France did not support the Iraq War, Republicans in Congress renamed
French fries and French toast ‘freedom fries’ and ‘freedom toast’ respectively.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">With over seven billion people in the world, we <b>WILL</b> disagree. War lords cannot go around slaughtering folks
who want their children to go to school.
Terrorists cannot assassinate the media for making fun of their
God. Politicians cannot condemn
presidents for not marching in a country that they constantly make fun of
previously. Entertainers cannot revile
others for sticking up for their friends.
People cannot judge others so openly while their faults are so visible
for the whole world to see. That’s not
how it works. Perspectively speaking, that’s
not how any of this works!</span><o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I think about this topic frequently. No, it’s not sex; although I have to admit
that’s high up there too. Why? Because I’m an unabashed pervert. But I think about and talk a lot about
aging. Not in a bad way, just in a
reflective way.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember when I was a little girl and the young ladies
especially were turning 21, we thought that they were so old. We couldn’t believe that such and such were
out of their teenage years. What we didn’t
realize was that these young ladies were six, seven, eight years older than we
were, and when we all got into our 30s and 40s, we would be in the same age
group.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Because our parents, aunts, uncles and their peers seemed so
mature compared to how we currently are, they always seemed much older in their
40s than we seem. They never interacted
with us kids like how we do with our kids.
They always seemed more intense and stressed than we do. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When I look at my teenage and tweenage children, I’m surprised at
how big they’ve gotten. They are not
above average. They are average at best,
but when I look at the twins, all I see is four pound babies looking up at me for
milk. I look at my youngest gaining on
them, and all I see is the baby we brought home from the hospital that
completed our family. Instead, what they
really are, are people with big personalities, big opinions, big attitudes and
big ambitions, walking the hallways of our home. Even my nieces and nephews and my play nieces
and nephews are amazed at how big my children have gotten, which is really
weird because I look at them, especially those in their 20s and marvel at the
fact that I used to take care of them and now they are nearly as old as I am.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But one of the reasons why I’m mildly obsessed with aging is because
above everything else I think it is a miraculous thing. We take it for granted when we look at it as
a one day at a time event; however, when we sit back and look at it from long lenses,
it is indeed a marvel.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">At 45, I can actually observe physical aging. I remember when we used to watch TV with our
mother and seconds after she got a joke, her smile would slowly revert. We thought it was the funniest thing. We would always look at her and exclaim, “Mommy,
you are still smiling!” The other day,
the kids did that to me, but now I realize it’s probably that my laugh lines are
two steps behind my actual smile. There
is a favorite photo of me and my daughter cheek to cheek taken one summer. From a distance, we can pass for sisters, but
if you look closely, you can see my crows feet and some gray hairs along my
hairline. And it takes a lot longer for
me to digest a huge meal and much longer to work it off. Therefore I don’t eat as much as I used
to. Well, it depends who you ask because
every time I say that, I feel my husband and kids looking at me as if to say, “Yeah,
keep telling yourself that.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But as fascinating as I find the physical traits, in my opinion
the mental aspects of aging are even more astonishing. Yeah, my patience level is not near close to
where I want it; but compared to where it was 20 years ago, I’m pretty
impressed. But the wisdom has got to be
the best thing about aging. As I’ve
mentioned, I watch a lot of OWN. Her
Super Soul Sunday series is very interesting, and I’m always amazed when one of
her speakers mentions something that I had already realized. I have to admit that it does make me seem not
only smart and evolved, but it proves that somewhere, somehow I had been paying
attention to my mother all these years.
And when I see that so many insights are new to so many people, I have
to admit that it scares me because I wonder 1) how come they’ve been here for
so long and haven’t learned that and 2) what else is there for me to learn.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It causes me to be restless, and I get on a quest to try something
new, do something different. I believe
that if we become too content with the now, then we are just preparing
ourselves for the end. And my hope is
that my end is nowhere close. Which brings
me to the saddest thing about aging -- dying.
Of course I know that not everyone gets old and then dies, but that’s
usually the preference. At 45, I see or
hear about the parents of my peers becoming bed-ridden, getting dementia,
living with cancer and other serious illnesses; and watching your parent going
through infantile stages has got to be one of the hardest things in the
world. I now see and hear about my peers
and folks a few years older becoming sick and dying. I mean people who you think were healthy just
literally dying suddenly due to some sickness that they didn’t know
existed. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So aging for the vain may not be something to embrace, but perspectively
speaking, it is a marvel because it means that the younger generation is making
ground, and for great things I hope; that I can impart some wisdom because parts
of my journey are now becoming hindsight; and that I have mellowed because so
much of what I thought was a big deal truly isn’t.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">What? TMI? Well, excuse me, but since every day some “celebrity”
has been coming out as gay, I just assumed that we were ALL sharing what
happens behind closed doors. Well, in
that case, shhhh shhhh…..DISREGARD! DISREGARD!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But seriously, some country singer named Ty Herndon just came out a
couple of days ago. First of all, I don’t
even know him, ergo, he CANNOT be that important. Second of all, isn’t that something you tell
a love interest? What is going on in this
world that every gay person feels compelled to tell everybody in the entire
world that he or she is gay? Sure some
people care a great deal, but the majority of us really could care less.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Here’s why I don’t care.
Well, mostly because I have no clue who the heck this Ty person is. It could be because I like country music as
much as I like going to the dentist. Maybe
if it was Taylor Swift, since she is such a huge <s>country</s> pop star! And just like Jason Collins, if you are
supposedly talented, do you want to be known or remembered just for being gay? Jason Collins recently retired, and my son mentioned
that most of the clips shown for the story were primarily from practice. His basketball career wasn’t even
consequential enough to make a proper story.
Ergo, he is no Michael Jordan.
Okay fine, they all cannot be Michael Jordan; but he wasn’t even Patrick
Ewing.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Secondly, most of us, even those who were raised thinking that it was
the biggest sin in the Universe, don’t see it as a big deal anymore. I personally don’t see it as a sin, or a
lifestyle or a personal choice. It is
just one of those things that just is, but really I don’t care.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Thirdly, that battle has been won!!! Just like many people wrongfully think that
racism no longer exists, gays don’t have to come out of the closet
anymore. They don’t have to stay in the
closet either. They are just free to be
who they are. It is widely accepted to
respect and accept them, especially if you want to keep your job…..or your TV
show.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I guess what I don’t get is this.
Why fight for equality and then when you get it, you still act like
something ‘different’ is occurring? Gay
people………do you want to make your gayness a big deal or not because I’m really
confused at this point. And that is one
of the reasons why I love me some Queen Latifah. She doesn’t make her color, gender or sexuality
an issue. Yes, we can see that she is Black. Yes we can see that she is a woman (well
nowadays). And yes, many will keep
wondering if she is gay or not. But she
doesn’t make that <b><i>her</i></b> problem. She just
keeps doing her thing. The gay community
NEEDS to take a page or two out of the Queen’s book.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Nobody cares, especially if we don’t even know you! And of course I’m using hyperbole here because
there are many in the Christian community who still think that it is their job
to viciously speak out against others’ sexuality. I don’t get how other’s sexuality is their
business; but that’s none of my business.
But you are not going to win them all.
If there ever comes a time when the Black community is given the respect
and acceptance that the gay community receives, we will have to be mindful that
it will NEVER come from everyone, especially white supremacists. So, it doesn’t matter who or what you are,
you will never win them all.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Coincidentally, I was just reading an article about the coming out
of Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, in which the author commented that although he did
not receive any backlash or negativity for coming out, many of the people who
posted comments stated that he should get over it because nobody cares. The author continued that the reason why
people should care is because there are 77 countries that still don’t accept homosexuality,
so it was good that someone of Tim Cook’s stature could be a good role model
for young, gay people. I’m paraphrasing
here because I just perused the article, but you get the drift.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">However, this is my take on it.
We should not be pointing out every single difference in everyone just
so people can be treated the same. In other
words, does Justice Clarence Thomas have to disrobe and show all his tattoos
for us to accept the tattoos on basketball players, pop singers and bikers? (Like we would be able to make out <b><i>his</i></b>
tattoos!) Or does Hillary Clinton have
to remove her pant suits and expose her body piercings for us to accept that?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The problem with individualizing every bigotry is that it leads to
more problems. So some white people get
upset because there is a Black History Month.
Where is their month, they ask?
Of course the reason behind Black History Month probably made sense to
those who fought for it. Blacks were
marginalized, so they thought if they got one month just to focus on them, that
would help. Then there had to be a National
Hispanic Heritage Month; now there is an Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m so glad that my children are no longer in elementary school because
if I had to see one more picture of Harriet Tubman or Martin Luther King, Jr
that somebody had to color, I was just going to scream. How about this? How about instead of teaching about the same
two people every February, why not incorporate the history of Black people into
American History. Why have a Hispanic
month to showcase the accomplishments of a chosen few?</span> <span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><span style="font-size: large;">Instead, incorporate the accomplishments of the many
Hispanics that contributed to this country into American History. <span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>The
history of Asian-Pacifics and Native Americans should be widely included as
that of Christopher Columbus and his band of thieves.</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It shouldn’t have to depend on someone of ‘high’ stature to do
something or be something for us to accept it.
If we preach, teach and practice equality for all, then we wouldn’t be
wasting precious time pointing out everyone’s differences. There are only twelve months in the year,
therefore there is no room to highlight the quadriplegic, autistic, transvestite
albino. Let’s just treat him as a person
EVERYDAY! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And with that, I’m just perspectively speaking.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And I don’t mean physiologically; that is easily researched. I mean in practical terms. For us women, early mornings are for going
over the day’s chores, trying to stay warm a little bit longer and for
squeezing out that last ounce of sleep.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But as I ponder that dilemma, it dawned on me that there are so
many other things in life that I will probably never figure out in my lifetime.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Beginning with this question that the kids constantly ask: “Where do homeless people get markers?” It sounds simple enough, but I have never
been able to give them an answer. Think
about it – homeless people can always grab a piece of cardboard off the side of
the street, but the markers? And for
some reason, their signs are usually boldly written. I live in a house, and many times I take a
marker from the drawer, and it is dry.
Yet, homeless people are able to produce thick, black markers for their
signs. What gives?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">While I ponder that one for eternity, I still cannot grasp how people
can owe their friends and family money, are not in the process of paying it back
any time soon, but have no problem splurging on themselves. It’s not like the lenders cannot see the borrowers
wearing fine clothes, going on trips, driving fancy cars and eating out, while
the lenders are still pinching that penny.
I often wonder if it’s not easier to just repay the loan and as we say
back home ‘suck salt’ for a while until one is back on one’s feet. Hey, maybe it’s just me!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And speaking of family and friends……..Why is it so difficult to
get their support in an endeavor?
Meanwhile, they are the first to promote some rich and famous celebrity’s
latest work <b><i>to you</i></b>? You know the
ones – they are on facebook exclaiming how you should support some celebrity’s
movie, music, artwork, book or event while they have no time to boost their
friends, relatives, neighbors, countrymen, or own people. Where is the love?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Which brings me to an issue that I keep seeing on facebook: People taking the liberty of trying to run other
people’s lives. Now if an individual
chooses to put a photo on facebook and others do not approve, does that really
give them the right to say anything?
Facebook has a <b>Like</b> button
under a post or a photo. The only time
the <b>Unlike</b> button pops up is if someone
decided that he no longer likes someone else’s post or photo. Facebook NEVER gives the option to <b>Unlike</b> someone’s post or photo
initially. Sure it asks for your
comments, but if you have nothing good to say, just don’t say anything. It’s really not that difficult. As a people, we choose to possess things. For instance, we have many shoes, lots of
clothes, few children, plenty friends, cars, you name it. However, and no matter how much we would like,
we only get <b>ONE</b> life to live. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So, a woman feels like shaving her head…it’s her business. She feels like wearing short shorts in
public…..if she can brave it, give her her props. A man feels like wearing a muscle shirt
without any speck of muscles…more power to him.
Somebody wants to give advice….allow him. I’m not saying that we can’t find someone’s
photo funny. Come on! You know I’m anything but hypocritical, but
it takes some real cahonas to personal message somebody and give them unwanted
advice. The same photo that you are
looking at, they can see it too; so if it’s okay with them, then it should be
okay with you. Now messaging someone to
tell her that lipstick is on her teeth, or that her makeup is off, that you
should do!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And what is the deal with parents making their kids’ lives better,
to the detriment of their own? The other
day, I saw a 66 year old grandmother taking the trash to the curb, with the
assistance of her walking stick. Don’t ask
me how I know her age. You have your
stalking tendencies – I have mine! Anyway,
it truly broke my heart because her 34 year old son and 32 year old daughter-in-law
live in the house along with their twelve and nine year old children. It was bad enough when she used to put the garbage
on the bonnet of her car and escort it up the driveway, but why is it that
taking out the trash is her sole duty when there are <b>FOUR</b> other people quite capable of handling the task?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Speaking of crazy kids, why do they lock the bathroom door when
they are inside, but have no problem barging in, sometimes even unlocking the door,
when it’s their parents’ turn? Just size-wise
alone (in most cases), don’t we have more to hide?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I’m still bewildered that people still have this thought – it’s
not going to happen to <b><i>me</i></b>.
Where do people get off thinking that if they speed, they can avoid
accidents, whereas others might not? How
come people still believe that they can experiment with drugs and alcohol and
not get hooked? People practice unsafe
sex and have the nerve to be surprised when they get pregnant or contract a
sexually transmitted disease. And as
grown as some of them are, they are still surprised by death. Of course it is usually a shock, but to still
think that it only happens to other people is beyond naïve. Yes, we are all special; but nobody is <b><i>that</i></b>
special! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But you know what I will never be able to wrap my head around? It’s people who expect you to have the same exact
beliefs as they do. And for some reason,
they are so sure that theirs make more sense than yours or that you are totally
wrong. As unique as we are as
individuals, we <b>WILL</b> have varying
thoughts on religion, politics, sexual mores, child rearing, and schooling,
just to name a few.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And don’t get me started with this next topic! The other day, I was reading a book set in
the United States and written by a British author. And like most novels, when a new character
comes on stage, we are given a brief description. It always helps to visualize the character. Unfortunately, I noticed that a couple token Blacks
were thrown in, but I could have done without the gesture because their
descriptions were just too vague. There
was a handsome African-American man. Are
we talking Boris Kodjoe handsome or Morris Chestnut handsome? Then there was a tall African-American
woman. Did the author have Big Bertha in
mind or Naomi Campbell? But as bad that
those two examples were, I still cannot get over Dr. Singh. She was female. However, the White characters were grumpy,
nice, had intense blue eyes, red hair, brown hair and other characteristics
that give a vivid picture of who they were.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">You know, recently when Raven-Symoné said that she doesn’t
consider herself African-American, although she is aware that she is Black,
people got all upset with her. Africa is
a continent - not a country. You don’t
hear people calling themselves European-Americans. First off, people should be free to identify
themselves as they see please. Secondly,
the issue I have with the term African-American is that it is just too broad. I’m Antiguan and an American citizen, so how
does that make me African-American? Just
because I’m Black? Yes, my ancestors
came from Africa, but because my legacy was stolen, I have no idea which
African country they originated. Yes, I
could speculate, but I’d rather not. Sometimes
when you lose something, you just have to accept the fact that it will never ever
be returned to you. I could assume I’m of
Nigerian descent and accept the culture as my own, but what if my ancestors
were from Sierra Leone? If you think
that’s okay, then call any random West Indian a Jamaican! You won’t find a European American adopting
the culture of Norway, Ireland or Finland, if he’s not sure which country his
ancestors originated.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">There are 47 countries in Africa.
It is just laziness to group all Black people as African-Americans
because with 50 countries in Europe, White people are not called European
Americans. And since the ancestors of
the North African people were not generally enslaved in America, are they
considered African-Americans too?
Especially since they don’t look ‘African’. Maybe it’s me, but things would be so much
easier if American citizens were just called Americans.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And lastly, speaking of Black people, I’m still fascinated by the
color of our skin, mainly the variety of shades. It is so amazing that family members with the
same genetic makeup can have such varying shades, especially among
siblings. So the complexion I love, and it
will always intrigue me, but perspectively speaking, why the hell does it take forever
to fix the hair?</span><o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">In the event that you are left with any kind of confusion, let me
make this perfectly lucid.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If my man
knocks me out cold in a public elevator, in the privacy of our bedroom,
anywhere for that matter, he better pray to God that I do not revive because
when I come to, </span><b style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I WILL KILL HIM</b><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">!!!</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">With that said, let me also make it clear that I do not know Ray or
Janay Rice so I emphatically refuse to make any judgments on their behavior. I can assume, because I’m still human, but I will
not pass any judgments on the matter. I assume that since they were high school
sweethearts that she genuinely loves this man and is not taking his punches
just for the money. I will assume that
he genuinely loves her too. I will further
assume that that was not the first time he put his hands on her in a violent
manner. And lastly, I will assume that
she believes that she can change him.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Now what Ray Rice did to his fiancée was horrible. It was wicked. And it was inhumane. But above all that, it was criminal. And guess where criminal acts should be
judged? In the court of law, <b>NOT</b> in the court of public opinion!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">After he has gone through the legal system, and his crime is punishable
by a jail sentence, then he should be sent to jail. Not sent to the poor house! This criminal act is not worthy of him being
punished for <b>LIFE</b>. He did not commit
murder. Sure, he could have killed
her. But you could have been killed walking
down the street, eating your breakfast. Anything. So let’s not coulda shoulda woulda here. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard and Eddie Long were
first touched by scandal, none of them were initially put on indefinite leave. Instead people claimed that they were after
all human beings and should be forgiven.
Yet, <b><i>they</i></b> are in the business of morality, while athletes are not.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But what really gets me is the hypocrisy of the expectations that people
place on athletes. People are okay spending
thousands of dollars to watch two 200 pound men pummel each other over a ball,
but cringe when that 200 pound man pummels his woman. People are okay pushing these men to be
aggressive on the field, be aggressive all their lives for Pete’s sake, but
pretend that they cannot understand how some of them cannot switch the
aggression off. And don’t tell me that
they don’t all act like that because we all have cancer genes, but we won’t all
die from cancer. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People can dress up in their best Vegas threads to watch two men
punch each other’s lights out, but quiver at the sight of said man punching his
actress wife. You cannot send a man to
war and not expect him to have some kind of post-traumatic stress from the
ordeal.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People can pay to watch Julia Roberts play a beautiful prostitute
and fall for a rich, handsome Richard Gere, but outside the movie theatre, they
turn their noses up at the world’s oldest profession.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People will praise movies like <b><i>12 Years a Slave</i></b>, <b><i>The
Help</i></b>, <b><i>Driving Miss Daisy</i></b> and <b><i>Amistad</i></b>, and flourish them with
awards, but <b>REFUSE</b> to have a serious
dialogue about racism. They will revere
Tom Hanks in <b><i>Philadelphia</i></b>, yet scorn the man on the street suffering from
HIV and AIDS.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Parents will allow their children to watch shows on Nickelodeon and
Disney Channel where the parents are idiots, then act confused when their own
children disrespect them. Parents allow their
children to listen to music by Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and the rest of that crew,
then dread when their children see them as role models. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People made the reality show <b><i>16 and Pregnant</i></b> so popular, that it
spawned the <b><i>Teen Mom </i></b>spinoff series.
Then they cry as if a professional athlete just beat them, when they
find out that their teenage daughter is pregnant.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People buy a slew of electronics devices and games for their
children and then complain that they don’t study or go outside and play as much
as they should. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">People will go to church every week and fall sleep as soon as the
pastor starts his sermon, then chastise youths for not going to church.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">On paper, people will say that convicts deserve a second chance,
but they don’t mean sexual predators and pedophiles, and they certainly don’t
mean that they can live that second chance in their neighborhoods.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Women have copies of <b><i>50 Shades of Grey</i></b> on their night
tables, but get offended when their partners suggest anything “too kinky”.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Americans will cheer when a Chinese or Russian spy operating on
American soil is sought out and caught, but will cry foul when an American spy
is captured on foreign soil.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Here’s the thing: once we
start rating inappropriate behavior, morality, crimes and sins, we are climbing
a very slippery slope that will not end well at all. </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">One person might think that even one cigarette is bad, while six
beers are fine.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">One person might think
that all drugs should be illegal while another cannot wait for marijuana to be legalized
in Pennsylvania.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">One person might think that
if a man has a child out of wedlock, he should serve time in jail, while others
think that it’s no big deal.</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Meanwhile,
the others that thought that it was no big deal, would not see things so lightly
when their women have a child out of wedlock.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I know for sure that I’m not, and I don’t think that anybody is condoning
what Ray Rice did, but let’s put it all into perspective. These people are paid to be violent on a
daily basis. Then they are expected to
turn it on and off like a switch. Ray
Rice is 27. He most likely will not be
the same person at 37 or 47. Yes, he
should have known better. Yes, he should
have done better. But in reality, people
don’t always do what they are supposed to do.
Jay Z reserved the urge not to punch Solange’s light out. Does that make Jay Z a better man than Ray
Rice? Not in my opinion. It just means that Jay Z and Ray Rice have
different character flaws, because we all know that Jay is not perfect.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Also, people will do bad things, and many of them will regret
it. We just cannot throw people out of
society forever when they screw up. Chris
Brown beat Rihanna in the face. Sean
Penn tied and beat Madonna up for nine hours.
Marv Albert sexually assaulted a woman and bit her dozens of times, claiming
that it was consensual. Michael Vick
owned and operated a dog fighting ring. Speaking
of rings, Rush Limbaugh was caught in a black market drug ring. Bill Clinton got pleasured by an intern in
the White House, denied it (well sort of) then admitted it (well sort of). <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">In 1977, at age 43, Roman Polanski raped a 13 year old girl. Woody Allen dated his adopted step-daughter
when she was about 20 years old, and later married her. That did not stop people from watching their
movies, the Academy from nominating their pictures or actors from wanting
to still work with them, even today. Eric
Clapton, who owns a vacation villa in Antigua called Steadfast Point, drunkenly
stated in 1976 at an anti-racism concert that England was becoming a black
colony and all the wogs, coons and foreigners should get out. Charles Dickens left his wife after 20 years of
marriage for an 18 year old actress because she became fat and lazy after she
bore him 10 “noisy-ass children”. A
racist to the core, Thomas Jefferson had an ongoing affair with his slave Sally
Hemmings, creating seven children with her.
Yet, he is one of the presidents featured on the Mount Rushmore National
Memorial. Christopher Columbus claimed
to have discovered the West Indies when not only were people already living
there, but other nationalities had arrived there previously. Come to find out, he was just a tyrant and a
slave trader, if I’m going to be kind to him.
Yet he is celebrated on the second Monday of every October, to this day.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">We might not like everything that happens in life, but that is not
going to stop bad things from happening; but perspectively speaking, we cannot
call one thing entertainment when it’s done for show and then cry foul when it
happens in reality.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Young black men wearing their pants half way off their bottoms
make us of us look bad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Black teenage girls getting pregnant and having to raise their
babies by themselves make us look bad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Black women cussing and fighting each other on reality shows make
us look bad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Black men burglarizing and killing innocent people make us look
bad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Right? Wrong!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Not even my kids doing something totally inappropriate will make
me look bad. Sure I used to think that,
but no more. Of course I went through
the stage of reminding them not to embarrass me in public. “You better not let that school call me
unless it’s for something good.” Well,
the school has called every single year for the past four years, and it’s never
to tell me that my son has gotten an award.
It’s always for some mischief that he got himself into. I stopped complaining when I mentioned to my friend
that my son has gotten written up once a year for the past four years. He looked at me shockingly and kindly let me
know how lucky I am because his son’s school had been calling almost every day. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">My son has lost his temper in every single sport that he plays. He once threw a basketball at an opponent across
the court because the guy allegedly hit him first. He once argued with the parents sitting on
the soccer side line because they bitched at him for playing too rough. He has hit his baseball bat on the ground and
flung his helmet in the dugout when he thought the umpire unfairly called him
out. But that was years ago, and lately
I’ve been impressed with how he takes his losses. Part of it could be that he ended up on a
shitty baseball team that only won one out of 15 games this year, but most of
it came with maturity. When you realize
that losing is a big part of life, your perspectives sure change quick, fast
and in a hurry.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I recently read the novel ‘Purple Hibiscus’, and many parts of it not
only saddened me, but will truly stick with me forever, especially regarding the
abusive father. And boy am I happy that I
learned a long time ago not to raise my children with unrealistic
standards. First off, it’s impossible to
tell my kids that they have to be the best at everything they do, when two of
them are twins, and the third one is not that far behind. Out of my twins, one is always going to outdo
the other. So who am I going to choose? And because of that, I teach them to always
try to do better than their last best.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Of course it would be nice if the smartest kid in the school or
the best athlete in the community lived in my house; but I refuse to allow my
kids to follow dreams just to make their parents proud. I much prefer to raise kids who will follow dreams
that will lead to a fulfilled and happy life.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">With all that said, the main reason why I don’t take personally
what a random Black person does is because I don’t know that person. And clearly, as you just read, even if I knew
that person, I refuse to take responsibility for someone else’s actions. Now don’t misconstrue what I’m saying. I take great pride in teaching my children
moral values, in taking personal responsibility for their actions, for thinking
before acting so that they can make responsible choices. However, they are not perfect; so they will
make errors in judgment. Of course I feel
comfortable saying this because I also know my kids, and I feel pretty
confident of what they are capable of doing and not doing. They hardly ever surprise me.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But my point is steering to the fact that recently I have noticed
that some Black people have been blaming themselves for the racism that has
been dispensed upon other Black people. You
all know I love me some Iyanla, but I was watching her special episode on the
Michael Brown murder, and she pondered if our killing ourselves has caused the
police to think that it’s okay to kill us too.
Beloved, you know I love you, but White kids constantly shoot up their
schools, and the police are not scared of them.
Boo, every time there is another shooting, the residents always say the
same thing that the residents of the last community said, “I never thought it
would happen here.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So I refuse to believe that police and others who gun down unarmed
young Black men think it’s okay to do so because young Black men are violent to
each other. I refuse to believe that it’s
because of the way that they dress. Millions
of young White men wear their pants half way off their bottoms too, and no one
ever thinks that their dress code is detrimental to their health. It cannot be because of how they speak either
because young White men living in the suburbs speak just as wack. I don’t know what it is for us as Black
people to blame ourselves. The only
thing I can think of is that if we defend the young Black youth, we will be
seen as one of them; and we can’t have that.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember when OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife and her
boyfriend. I’m sorry. I mean when OJ Simpson allegedly killed his
ex-wife and her friend. I was in Antigua
when it happened. When my father told
me, and he mentioned that he was in driving away in his white Bronco with a gun,
I thought to myself, guilty. When he was
acquitted, I was walking the streets of New York looking for a job. Get your nasty mind out of the gutter – not that
kind of job! I had copies of my résumé
going to various temp agencies, if you please.
But I was probably the only Black person on the streets of New York not
cheering for that man.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">First off, I didn’t know him, so why am I going to be happy that
he was acquitted? Not because he looks
like me means that he is like me. He
might look like me, but his friends don’t. Heck, even his kids don’t. When he was banished from society, people who
were secretly happy that he got away with murder probably chastised him in
public because they were afraid that he would make them look bad. Again, don’t know the dude, so there is no
way for him to make me look bad.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I don’t get why we as a people don’t get to share in the glory but
want to feel responsible for the shame.
We don’t get to gloat that Oprah got where she is because of us. We don’t take credit for Tiger Woods (before
Thanksgiving 2009) or Michael Jordon or President Obama; however, we think that
the DC sniper, Michael Vick and Stacey Dash make us look bad. We act as if the Black women on Maury who
have no idea who the baby daddy is, is our own flesh and blood.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Look I’m not saying that as a people we don’t want to take pride
in ourselves and feel pride in our youth and everyone in our race. But it is IMPOSSIBLE!! You hear me?
IMPOSSIBLE. Black people are
people first, and people are people everywhere you go. So some will cheat, steal and kill. Others will uplift, encourage and assist. It would be nice if Black people the world
around would do the right thing. And it
would be nice if people from every other race would do the right thing
too. But realistically, we can’t expect
only other people to do crap and our own people to be saints.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">We complain that we are not a monolithic group, yet when we hear
the term African-American youth, we do not conjure up images of Akintunde Ahmad, Avery Coffey, Kwasi Enin or Chad Thomas. We don't see Dr. Rameck Hunt, Dr. Sampson Davis or Dr. George Jenkins. Tony Hasberry II is the furthest person from our minds. Instead, we see the kid with tattoos all over his body, the one with gold all over his mouth, the one with his pants sagging to the ground, the one who skips school to smoke weed.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Well, I don’t personally know any of those people. When I think of young Black men, I see my
sons, I see my nephews, I see the male children of my cousins, my friends and my
neighbors, and perspectively speaking I don’t see any of them deserving to be
killed at the hands of the police.</span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Two years ago, I tried my best not to get too caught up with the
Trayvon Martin ordeal. I tried to
separate myself from it – not because I didn’t care, not because I didn’t sympathize
with his family, not because I forgot that I have children, but because I have
children. And because I have children, I
tried to stay far from it for their sake.
But not for the reason that you might think. Situations like that rile me up. And for them, I had to keep my peace of
mind. For their sake, I had to keep my
sanity because if I had ever stopped to think about that poor boy’s last
moments, I would have lost it. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Michael Brown was killed on August 9, 2014, not August 9, 1714 or
August 9, 1814. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Like Trayvon Martin, I found out about Michael Brown as a sidebar because when one keeps hearing about these matters and one feels helpless,
letting them marinate in one’s very being does not help the situation either. But I had to crawl out of my hole today because
of too many misguided statements that appear on facebook. Maybe I’m the one who is misguided, but since
I’m the one writing this post, I will relay the issue from my perspective.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And if I sound angry, fed up and disgusted, it’s because at this
present moment I am. So if you are not
in the mood for a no-holds-barred take on the subject, then this is not the
place for you. And let me also say that I
don’t usually generalize, so when I say they, please don’t take it for an
entire race or an entire occupation.
They means they who are guilty.
Period.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that Black people never complain about Black on Black crimes, but
whenever a Black youth is killed by a White cop, we want justice. First off, Black people complain like crazy
about crimes in the ghetto, because you know that is what they really mean. But secondly and more importantly, I have
NEVER heard the media or anyone else, for that matter, EVER mention White on
White crime. And for somebody who watches
A LOT of Investigation Discovery, I see a lot of that. Man, these people have no problem killing their
own flesh and blood for ulterior motives.
And they certainly have no problem killing their spouses for the
insurance money because as we all know, “Divorce is not an option”.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that Black kids, Black young men in particular, have to know
how to talk to the police and what to do when they are stopped by the
police. I have never heard about White
kids being taught what to do when they are stopped by the police. White kids don’t have to be trained how to
respond to cops at all. They are allowed
to be themselves. They are allowed to
dress as themselves. They are allowed to
walk as themselves. They are allowed to talk as themselves.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that Black people act as if poor White people are not treated
poorly by the law too. Of course they
are. Lots of officers know that they are
in a profession where they are feared, and they use that to their
advantage. But Black people are predominantly
stopped by the police more often compared to any other race. Period.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that the police are just doing their job when they shoot first and ask questions later, but if I’m an
accountant and I shred my documents </span><b style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><i>before</i></b><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> I file my clients’ taxes,
then I’m quite inept at my job.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that police officers need to be retrained how to treat
Black people. No one ever retrains the
tax collector how to take Black people’s money.
No one ever retrains the mortgage broker how to take Black people’s
money. No one ever retrains the Wal-Mart
cashier how to take Black people’s money. No one ever retrains the coaches how to interact with young Black athletes. No one ever retrains John & Jane Doe how
to revere Oprah. It is only when Black
people should be respected, should be treated as equals, that problems arise as
to how to treat them.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And by the way, I don’t understand why is it that whenever police
officers shoot unarmed citizens, their first defense is that they were afraid
for their lives. Look, some jobs are
just more dangerous than others. If you
are such a damn scaredy-cat, then find another line of work. I’m terrified of
electricity, especially electricity in close proximity to water. Therefore, you won’t see me applying for a
job building an underwater tunnel!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">A couple of months ago, my then 11 year old son and I were talking,
and I expressed that when someone does something to him, he doesn’t always have
to retaliate. I continued that he can be
like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He
countered that he really like Dr. King, but if he was in that time, he wouldn’t
follow him. He would follow the Black
Panthers or whatever they were called and fight back. Two things: I didn’t even know that he knew
about the Black Panthers and second, I was extremely proud that he figured that
out in about half the time that it took me.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that we are focusing on the fact that they are assassinating
the victims’ characters. When I was
going to confirmation class at the age of 12, we used to go into the
supermarket and steal the shopkeeper’s cookies.
It’s not like we didn’t know that it was wrong. It’s not like we didn’t know that it was
worse coming from church. It’s not even like
we couldn’t afford to buy the cheap cookies.
We just thought it was fun. Good kids do dumb stuff all the time. Not every teenage girl that gets pregnant is promiscuous. Not every teenage boy that smokes weed is a
pothead. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">As parents, we blame ourselves for every bad thing that our children do. Not every teenage boy who threatens to blow
up his high school has absentee parents.
Not every teenage girl who works the pole has abusive parents. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much we speak
to our children, how much we warn them, how much we explain to them, it takes a
second for them to make a bad judgment that can unfortunately cause them their
lives. However, a misstep in judgment
is never enough to get a young man executed in the public square in broad
daylight.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They say that we have to teach our children that they live in an
unfair world, that they live in the White man’s world, that we sometimes have to
swallow our pride in order to survive.
Why? Why do we have to accept the
fate of second class citizens? Why do we
have put the strain on ourselves and live in two worlds? Why do we always have to be the ones to
compromise? Why do we always have to be
the ones to change the way we speak? Why
do we always have to conform?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">We have been conforming for hundreds of years, and the way I see
it, NOTHING has changed. So clearly,
that way is not working either. If the
alternative to surviving in this world is to live subserviently in order to live
another day, in order to teach our boys that we are only men inside of the
house, but mere boys once we step out, then perspectively speaking, maybe this
life is not even worth living in the first place.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If I see one more of my facebook friends
writes how much s/he already misses Robin Williams, I’ll, I’ll, send her/him a
game request. Any game except Candy Crush of course, because that’s
fun. But I’ll send some weird, random game like Snail Bob…..all seven
versions. Truth be told, I have no idea what that game is. I just
searched facebook for the dumbest looking game, and voilà. But I just
feel so irritated right now.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Look, I feel badly for Robin Williams’
family and for his real friends. And I get it, many facebook users were
big fans of his. But I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend how people
can miss someone that they weren’t even thinking about a day before, or never
even met, much less had one conversation with. And I realize that the media
frenzy will be obsessed with him for a while; but for ordinary folks, someone
really needs to enlighten me. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And don’t get me wrong, I appreciated his
talent. He piqued my interest with<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><i>The
World According to Garp</i>. He tickled my funny bone in<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><i>Moscow on the Hudson</i>. And
by the time I saw<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><i>Good
Morning, Vietnam</i>, I concluded that he was a bonafide movie star worth the
accolade. Of course we all loved<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><i>Mrs.
Doubtfire</i>; and when he spooked me in<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><i>One
Hour Photo</i>, I realized the man was not only a comic, but he had some real
acting chops. But a friend he never was, and never would be!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I feel like the media tell us, or try to
tell us what we should be concerned about, on whom we should focus. The
media have a way of making us sympathize with one person over another, even
though they are met with the same fate. John Smith suffers from
depression. He suffers from low self-esteem. He doesn’t think he is
good enough. He doesn’t love himself. John Smith is your neighbor
and one day, his illness gets the better of him, and John Smith kills
himself. It bothers you for a second or two, but you move on with your
life because it doesn’t affect you. You never even said more than two
words to him. But for some reason, losing Robin Williams has you in a bad
way. You are in denial that somebody that funny, that congenial, that
great of an actor can be experiencing the same issues as John Smith. How
can Robin Williams be a mere mortal like John Smith?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And I get it. We see these people on
TV, and we feel like we know them. We see them as friends, as
family. I get it. But when will we start seeing our neighbors as
friends, our family as family? When will we exert the same amount of
energy for our fellow men that we do for celebrities? We shouldn’t wait
for a celebrity to put a face on an issue for it to be an issue worth following
or an issue worth showing some concern.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then, the day after Robin Williams’ death,
as I tried to avert celebrity news, I ended up listening to some woman
appealing to President Obama to kindly assist the children stuck at the
US-Mexico border. I’m all for helping these unfortunate children, but I
could not believe my ears. This lady mentioned that these children were
being accosted by gang members to sell drugs. Where else have I heard
that happening to innocent children? Where else have children tried to
stay off the streets but are bullied into being drug dealers and
gangbangers? Where else are children shot and killed on the way to
school, on the way to visit Nana, on the way to the grocery store?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Some days, I honestly feel like I’m living
in an alternate universe. Everyone has to be so politically
correct. People can’t say what’s really on their minds anymore.
Stephen A. Smith cannot say that women should not provoke men into hitting them
or hitting them back before his statement is twisted to mean that he blames the
victims. People cannot say that America is biased towards Israel before
they are being accused of being Anti-Israel. No one can say that peace
will never come between the Israelis and Palestinians because they are fighting
over family land; but I will. I have never met a family feud over land
that was ever resolved. And hundreds of years of feuding will never
alleviate said problem. So, maybe stop pumping money into that dead
horse!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then the other day, someone remarked about
Robin Williams’ untimely death, and I lost it. Can you please allow me to
give you some facts, well some facts from my perspective? No one dies
before his time. Any time someone dies, it’s time. Period!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So I do hope that Robin Williams rests in
peace, but what I hope for more is that we live in a world where we will be
just as sympathetic to John Smith as we are to Robin Williams, where Trayvon
Martin will not be more of a household name than Jordan Davis, where Hadiya
Pendleton’s demise will not be grieved more than Porshe Foster’s, because
perspectively speaking, each one of us is important to someone, and all life
should be treated equally.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So I have a thigh gap. I
have always had a thigh gap, even as a toddler.
I look back on old photos, and there it prominently stands. Or sits.
Or lays. What the heck does a
thigh gap do, anyway? But I just
thought it was because I had skinny legs.
And I certainly never thought it was a big deal until recently. Let me proceed to tell you about the
coveted thigh gap. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">A couple of months ago, there was a scandal that Beyoncé doctored
a vacation photo so that it appeared that she had a larger thigh gap. I thought to myself, “That has a name?” Then I continued, “Why would any woman in her
right mind choose to do that?” I just
couldn’t understand why an attractive woman like Beyoncé would want to look
like a little boy. And I’m not saying
that everyone with a thigh gap looks like a boy child; I’m just saying that in
my opinion, fuller thighs look more feminine, soft and womanly. And personally, I just always admired them;
even as a little girl. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">In fact, I was at the mall recently and saw a young lady with some
lovely, feminine legs, and I thought to myself, “My legs will never fill out
like that.” It never occurred to me that
what I admired was not what vain people in society thought was attractive until
I came upon a news article. I was
shocked to read that people were exercising vigorously, and some were even
going under the knife to achieve a thigh gap.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Are you kidding me? But
what I also realized about thigh gaps is that they are more genetic
than anything else. My daughter has a
thigh gap, and she is blessed with muscular legs. I’m athletic; but she is an athlete. And it also dawned on me that nothing I can
do naturally will make this thigh gap disappear. But now that I know that thigh gaps are the
envy of some people, you know I’m glad that I was blessed with one too. Hey, I never said that I wasn’t vain!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But it also got me thinking:
people tend to want the body parts that they don’t naturally have. Of course not all the time, because sometimes
we are lucky enough to thankfully have or don’t have something that we don’t
want or want. Like I’m not keen on hairy
bodies; and as it is, I’m not very hairy at all. Whew!
Thank God for that one. And I’m
not implying that flat butts are the worst thing anyone could have, but after
hearing one girlfriend got teased about sitting on her back, boy was I glad
that I didn’t have a flat butt.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And there are even some things that I have that some people go
crazy for, and even buy. My nails grow
like crazy, but I hate long nails. Long
nails just get in the way. You season
chicken, then you have to clean all the seasoning out of your nails. If you go into your garden to pick some
vegetables and end up weeding, then you have to spend some time getting all of
that mud from underneath your fingernails.
And sometimes they get stained from cleaning products and the
likes. But whenever I complain about
having to cut my nails so soon again, I usually hear, “I wish I had growing
nails.” And when I used to sport longer
straightened hair, I used to hear the same thing whenever I got bored and cut it. “Why did you cut your hair? It was so long and beautiful!” Well, it’s hair, so it will grow back. Unfortunately, not everyone’s hair grows quickly,
so a lot of people take offense to someone cutting her own hair.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So it’s very common for some people to have something and wished
they had something else while other people wish they had that same thing they
wish they didn’t have. That sounds quite
discombobulated, so let me get specific - big breasted women are the biggest
culprits. Pun intended!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">They complain that their big breasts cause their backs and
shoulders to hurt. They complain that
they have to buy expensive bras, if they can even find their size. They complain that they can’t run on the spot
like other people. They complain, and
they complain. But if they know what’s good for them, they better not complain
to me. Sure I can get away with not
wearing a bra in public, which I do quite often because as uncomfortable as
those things are, I’m convinced they were invented by a man. Sure I can go running without having to worry
about getting beaten up by my girls. And
if I still had it, my first bra from my teenage days could probably still fit. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">But here’s the thing:
unless you are braless and your nipples and belly button are not seeing
eye to eye, then you are just sweating the small stuff. Pun intended!
Of course large breasted women would be happier if their breasts were
big and full, but who on Earth can fight with gravity? Plus, it was your fault for not enjoying them
for the few years that they were perky!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So back to the Beyoncé and the thigh gap. I thought to myself, “If Beyoncé wants a
thigh gap so badly, she can have mine, and I’ll take her shapely feminine thighs.” However, two things stopped me from making
the trade. Beyoncé would look at me and
with that husky voice say. “I like dimples as much as the next person, but I
prefer them on my face. And by the way, I
don’t care for cottage cheese.” Yep,
I’ve been fighting a cellulite injury I incurred when I ran smack into
adulthood. I guess it was inevitable
since I was always susceptible to that, but the older I get, the more difficult
the symptoms are to manage. On the other
hand, it’s still nothing that a pair of jeans can’t fix.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Additionally, the last time I wished for something that I didn’t
have, it didn’t end so well. After having
my last child, I could still see AND touch my hip bone. I thought to myself, “Really, Myra! You have three kids, and you still haven’t
filled out as yet?’ Shortly after that
conversation, I went to a soca concert, and the lead female singer had that
little soft cushiony flesh above her hips that many women possessed. I thought to myself, “That looks so
sexy. I wish I could get a little meat
on my hips too.” And magically in less
than no time, I did. But what I wasn’t
aware of is that that little cushion was the beginning of muffin tops. And what I also wasn’t aware of is that once
they appear, that’s it. You are stuck with them! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So now I just try appreciate what I have because perspectively
speaking, even if I don’t always like it, there is someone who appreciates
it. Case in point – just found out that
my hubby likes my thigh gap. Who knew!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">

<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Botched Executions: When
you sat on your couch and heard that he would be sentenced to death, you
cheered. After all, he had committed the
most heinous of crimes. Death would be
too good of a punishment for him. You
cannot wait for him to meet His Maker.
You cannot wait for him to be punished for what he did. You cannot wait for society to be rid of him.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Then the day comes, and you are so happy that the state has
decided to seal his fate. He never
admitted that he committed the crime. He
never apologized for committing the crime.
Therefore, you don’t give a damn about him.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">However, the execution does not go as planned. Instead of dying quietly from the lethal
injection, he doesn’t die instantly. He
writhes and squirms tortuously as the dose does not take its intended effects.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Personally, execution by nature is cruel and unusual. Therefore, whether it goes off without a
hitch or it ends in torture of the death row inmate….MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I will have no time for feigned horror. You either want the man dead, or you want to
live in a civilized community without executions…..pick one!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Inhumane Butchering: Again, when you are eating that
scrumptious hamburger, should you care that the cattle were killed humanely or
killed savagely? You’re not going to get
the burger from live cattle. Either you
don’t eat meat or you do. When you
picked the frozen beef patties from the supermarket’s freezer, your mind was not on
innocent cattle, so now that you know that they are not always killed humanely,
don’t act surprised.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And by the way, you vegetarians/vegans who claim that you don’t
eat anything that had a mother, I guess you never heard the term ‘baby plant’. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Racist Tirades: All I can
say is I’ve seen recent posts of an alleged racist woman in Cheektowaga, NY
going off presumably in the presence of her child/children. I didn’t open
it. And I still won’t open it for this post. I might be inefficient
in my job, but come one, we both will get over it. Some people do things to be infamous, some
people are careless and get caught; but I’m not surprised that bigots exist
among us. I’m not going to waste any
time on them and contribute to their 15 minutes of fame.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Bigoted Rednecks: Same goes for Cliven Bundy. Heard about the ordeal, but never found the
time to listen or watch it myself. Maybe
it’s me, but I honestly believe that after a certain point in life, if
something adds no enrichment to one’s life, then it is useless and pointless to
concern oneself with it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Xenophobic Officials: 82
year old Police Commissioner Robert Copeland from Wolfeboro, NH called my main
man Obama the N word. It’s not the fact that he’s 82 and refuses to
change at this point that concerns me. It’s not the fact that he’s in a
position to hire and fire police officers that concerns me. It’s that he
was elected by the people, and they pretend NOT to know about his
character. Furthermore, really. Why hasn’t he retired already? It’s not that I’m saying that every senior
citizen should retire and make way for younger people to take over, because I
am; but I’m saying that at 82, seriously?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">FOX News Personnel Talking for Shock Value: It takes people
like Ann Coulter and Bill O’Reilly to say things just to rile people up in
order to promote their books, but Myra is not falling for that anymore.
If I can ignore a toddler crying next to me for two hours straight, I think I
can ignore the noise at FOX.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Adulterous Pastors Who Chastise Congregants: Okay, this one is way too easy, so I’ll pass;
but you know who they are!!!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Philandering Politicians Who Don’t Practice What They Preach: David Vitter, Newt Gingrich, Mark
Sanford, John Ensign, Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Philip Giordano, Scott DesJarlais</span>,
<span style="font-size: large;">Helen Chenoweth, Too Numerous To Mention.</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Celebrities Being Different:
Do I really care if Beyoncé and Jay-Z refuse to comb Blue Ivy’s
hair? I cannot believe somebody took time
out of her unbusy schedule to start a change.org petition for the public to get
involved. And I certainly cannot believe
that because of public outcries, Child Protective Services investigated Jada
and Will Smith because 13 year old Willow had a picture taken of herself, fully
clothed on a bed with a 20 year old friend!! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Young Sexy Entertainers Doing Crazy Things: When news broke that Miley Cyrus performed in
her underwear because of a missing costume, I didn’t think too much of it. However, it involved a half-naked person, so
it piqued my curiosity. I watched the
video and not only was Miley STUNNING in her bra and panties, but they matched;
AND they could actually pass for one of her costumes.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Rihanna in her sheer dress.
I’ll probably be criticized here, but I think she looked exquisite. With all the examples we’ve been given, who
on Earth is shocked that Rihanna eventually turned up naked to an event? The only problem was if she had sharted,
there would have been no way for her to hide it! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So clearly I’m not outraged by too many things at this point in my
life; but do you know what still boils my blood? GUNS!!!
Guns in the hands of innocent children playing. Guns in the hands of misguided school
children who think that everyone is out to get them. Guns in the hands of sociopathic college
students who think the world owes them. Guns
in the hands of disgruntled coworkers who are out to get revenge. Guns in the hands of soldiers suffering from
PTSD who still think they are at war. Guns
in the hands of cowards who refuse to fight with their fists. </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Guns in the hands of racists who claim to be standing their
ground. Guns in the hands of police officers
who panic easily and shoot innocent citizens and sometimes each other. Guns in the hands of gang members who do not
value life. Guns in the hands of nut jobs
whose favorite Bible passage is the Second Amendment. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And the saddest thing is that I cannot do anything about it. I cannot do anything about it because this
David is no match for that Goliath. I cannot
do anything about it because I’m not Martin Luther King Jr., and I refuse to
sacrifice my life for a cause that people are not ready to stand by. Face it, he would be shocked if he saw the way
some of these young men and women dress today.
He would be shocked if he heard the words that come out of their mouths.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">And I’m not Lenore Draper because perspectively speaking, only the
good and heroes die young.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
